just wanted to show how moronic UPS is. ordered from wbody store. checked tracking earlier today it was in new stanton PA, which is a little over an hour away from me. checked back again tonight thinking it would be at my local ups facility , but it's now in laurel md , almost 2 hrs away from me.

the blue dot is new stanton , #2 is where i live, #3 is where my package went today...

It's not stupid, it's just procedure.

The depot near Baltimore is probably your main depot. New Stanton was just a stop along the way. For me everything hits New Stanton, then it goes to the Smock depot where it is delivered out of.

For you it probably has to go to Baltimore first, then to your local depot. It will probably be at your local depot by morning.

What seems inefficient here is probably much more efficient with the amount of packages they are moving.

sure i know, but they probably drove thru my town to take my package two hours away only to bring it back.

the usps shut down the sorting facility in my town. so if i drop a letter off to be delivered here in my town , it gets sent 90 miles away and then brought back ...lol

the usps reorganization doesn't make much sense out here too. I imagine some "smart" guy proposed the new way of doing things.

They probably stayed on 76 (PA Turnpike) then took 70. They wouldn't have taken 119 and 68. It's about 4.5 hours to go that way, vs 3.5 hours to go 76 to 70.

your a bit off. from here in cumberland which 68 goes right thru. i can be in new stanton (80 miles) in less than 1.5 hours and i can get to laurel (134 miles) in less than 2. thats 3.5 hours tops depending on the traffic. thats 214 miles the way you're suggesting is 211 miles. the difference would be traffic which is very light on 68 compared to 76 and you'd stop for less tolls.

I know 68 very well. I am literally less than 10 miles from the WV border and I68.

As for the distances, I just punched in basic cities in Google. 76 to 70 is 3.5 hours. That's the way UPS is going to take.

Oh yeah, I've hit nasty fog in Garret County on more than one occasion. I remember one time I was headed home and around Cumberland one of the "Weather Alert" signs was blinking, so I changed the station to see what was going on. It warned of fog and taking caution. I proceeded on and didn't hit anything for the longest time not seeing anything until it was like a wall of fog. I might have had 3 feet of visibility. Had a similar situation, more than once with snow squalls in that area too.

i've literally almost drove right into the rear end of trucks because i didn't see them till they were a few ft away. that makes your ass pucker. was working in grantsville , one mourning i drove right by the exit (21) , didn't see the sign till i was driving by it.

keysers ridge can get pretty nasty with snow and fog.
