One time in my Stealth I put 21.1 gallons in it. It has a 20 gallon tank.
And lastly, as others have already said, vapors do NOT take up space. When you turn the cap and hear that "chsss" that's the vapors that have built up escaping
i just did this today. Got the low fuel pulling into the house last night and made it to work (20miles) then half the way home but got scared and filled up. Just cleared my app for the GP. Here's the first official entry.

No something is wrong with GM and their crappy DIC doing crappy math. My range is all over the damn place. Many times when I have calculated fuel mileage I am off by 1 mpg from what the DIC says. One time it was off by 3 mpg. It said I got 25 mpg, and I got 28mpg.
If GM had just put a normal sensor on the float then there wouldn't be this guessing game going on. I know in my Stealth when the idiot light comes on there is about 2 gallons left. I can do the math myself to know how far that will take me.
Re: GM should've put baffles in the gas tanks...
Funny cause I've had 2 GPs and so has the wife and never had a problem except once. She replaced the fuel level sensor on her pump and all is good.

Mine goes to E pretty quick and then the light comes on. I fill about 13 gallons. So yeah my sensor could be ****. Maybe cause it's an airtex replacement drop-in until I did my walbro swap
Re: GM should've put baffles in the gas tanks...
Oh god, airtex? Why?

Let me tell ya - cheap and it works. My stock pump quit and needed to drop in something cheap to hold me over
Built a walbro on the side. haven't installed it yet
upgraded to 60s - still runs 11s AFR ;)

You're in the minority, because I have talked to several other people who don't trust their DIC when it comes to fuel range and mpg.
Re: GM should've put baffles in the gas tanks...
You are in the majority of people who don't know that the teeth on the fuel level sensor wear down after awhile and the sensor needs to be replaced.
It's a common issue with these cars

About 150 miles I get before I'm half way. Then at 1/4 tank, I'll be at like 200. The gauge is like off when it nears E.

mine is off .5 gallons for every 5 to 6 gallons. if it says i used 6 gallons and i fill back up it will take about 6.5 , if i fill up when it says 12 gallons used it will take about 13 to fill it back up. it's trying to trick me into running out...:th_wtf:
Re: GM should've put baffles in the gas tanks...
So is the fuel mileage thing a 5 button DIC I hear about? I always just have to figure it by resetting my Trip odo when I fill up, then dividing from there, well since I got an app that keeps track I use that now.

^ This!
I usually get 550km (340mi) out of a tank. 320-350km (200-220mi) of that is the top half of the tank.

Not bad. I get 235 top half and whole tank is about 424. Most I ever got was 453. I drive mainly HWY with an Overkill Tune

I'm stock and 90% hwy driving. I don't want to even think about my city driving numbers. LOL

City MPGs with hilly terrain swallows big time on a stock tune. Get a tune. It'll pay for itself

I get like 250 miles per tank.
