Apparently while I was digging up and removing all the junk weeds from around one of the trees in my yard in prep for new landscaping this past Sunday I ran across some poison oak. Now I get to try and not scratch everything with a wire brush. I love living in the country, I really do, but when this came on today I am considering a nice controlled burn for the yard, lol.... trying to make the house look better and this is the thanks I get. F U mother nature! Now time for more calimine

I had a chemical reaction on my penis way back when I did pools. All day touching chemicals then took a piss. Ever seen a spoiled sausage? I had a 3" wide dick and not a wrinkle in sight. Hot DAM did that itch like a mofo

Steps to living with poison ivy:
1:When you shower..turn the water up as hot as you can handle on the affected areas, once you are about to commit suicide, lather up soap and rinse off the oil that has been drawn out.

2:Three parts water, one part bleach (personally, I use straight bleach with no ill effects). Use a paper towel and dab the mixture onto the areas. Repeating as much as time allows. The bleach dries it out and usually brings the issue to it's knees. You will have a lot less itching and the bleach will also clear this up in about a week instead of two weeks. And right about now..you are thinking even two minutes less of torture would be welcome.

    Enjoy..
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yep, I get poison just by looking at it. I was clearing an area next to my house out and got into some. Mine is now clearing up but it sucked while I had it.

At least it wasn't as bad as a few years ago when I had to get a steroid shot in the ass and take pills for 3 weeks.

If you know you get it and are in an area where you know it to be present. You should have this stuff waiting for when you stop working.

    Scotty,

you our and I are in ththe 90% of people that are not affected by poison ivy, oak and sumac. I've got a friend that mows his yard with a riding lawnmower and never steps foot off of it until he's done and gets it around his neck where his shirt collar is and sleeves touch. He gets it bad. I've been hunting with him and he is all watch out there and there and I just stomp right through it. We got back to camp and he was moving things around and picked my pack and ended up with it all over his back in a perfect print where he slung it over his shoulder. Luckily he had some calamine lotion. I felt so bad and he was pissed.

I have not seen that, but I do have a bottle of their Calagel sitting right next to me. Works great. Might just pick that up. Funny thing is I don't get issues w/ poison ivy as I've been around it plenty riding through the woods and camping/whatnot. First time for everything I guess. And yea, I'll take 2 less minutes of hell please and thank you!

@ HighOctane- I actually live in Old Monroe, MO, which is down hwy 79 and 47. I put STL on my profile since no one knows where the hell Old Monroe is, lol... It's close to Winfield, Mo for reference.

I never used to be allergic to it. Long ago boy scout capture the flag... our flag was on a mound of poison ivy. Mud balls made with poison ivy. I was one of the two kids that it never affected. But then all the sudden I became if I even looked at it I would break out. One summer I had it everywhere... walking around St. Louis zoo in 110* day. That point in my life I was ready to off myself. I tried bleach, gas, tons of ****. The only thing I found that helps me out is this. I usually buy it at walmart. Spray it on, good smack to the affected area and good to go. It does a good fast job at drying out the oil.

Only downside is it leaves you kinda sticky.

I hadn't either. Apparently as I get older I must be alergic to some of it.

I did manage to find the soap Bill recommended so we'll see what I get. Even if it just gets me to sleep w/o feeling like I want to scratch everything simultaneously i'd be alright with that.

@ NegativeOne- I have that spray too, been using it along with the Calagel from TecNu. It does leave a kinda sticky residue but I can deal with that since it helps me get through the day.

if you have the other 1/2 in bed with you, a popped blister on the sheets will get her infected. and spread on you as well.

ive heard so many horror stories. worst one ever was a tree guy was chipping tree limbs and poison ivy was all over it, one guy inhaled the dust got it in his lungs. talk about a death. he was in the hospital.

the other same deal chipping ivy and he got it on his hands then his dick, (unknowing at this point) then went home and played with his wife, she got it in her vag,,,,ouch! id divorce him lol

After washing all of the bedding we were using, I've been camping out on the couch with a comforter between me and the couch just in case. I don't have any oozing blisters so far so that's a good thing. I have managed to keep it away from the lower regions, lol... Since the other 1/2 is more allergic to these things than I am she knows to stay away for now. What sucks is my 7yr old wants to hug me goodnight and I have to tell her that I can't
