Another person just ran into my GTP, its a good thing I drive junk. Seriously, I cannot tolerate this any longer...

Just left from a meal with family and a guy who don't speak english in a Fusion with a paper tag ran into the back when traffic stacked up. This time theres a hole in the bumper cover. This time? Lets rewind-

Today, this. In January a kid failed to yield and my airbag broke my arm. Last November, a dump truck hit it at a light.

Before that, I ran clean since the previous November. Thats when I personally encountered a handling problem and overturned my 135K 40th GTP coupe. Nicest most expensive car I've had. Bought it because...

Before it, there was a black GT just like my GTP. People ran into it in every month starting in J, in 2013. Thats 3 wrecks in a few months.

Before that, I customized my 71 Ventura Sprint only to have the apartment maintainence guy whip around a dumpster and total it. After fixing, it was totalled again by a goof running a red light.

Before that, I put five years heart n soul in a 75 GP only to have it destroyed by a failure to yield-ing driver.

Before that, I slicked up my 68 Malibu to have it killed by a lady brushing her hair on the highway.

And when I painted my 69 GP in 2002, 90 days did not pass before the first depot store shopping cart dent. Not two years passed before it got hailed on. Three morte years passed and hail again.

This is just the stuff I can remember... there were more injustices all along the way. Todays guy had $400 in his pocket so off we went once it was in mine. It was all I could do to not go off, folks. These dumb muff huggers better think, man. I can't be cool forever.

Ironically, today is also the day I got my first bill for therapy from the broke arm. And the day after I replaced the airbag that broke it. Did I mention that when I went in after the airbag wreck, they didn't find my fractures so I worked for six weeks with a broken arm? No cast, no meds. Holy vuggin chit, I need to move to Tibet.

Hey thanks. At least in my yard I can pretty much find a four leaf clover anytime. Luck is real but random. I was by myself in every wreck but one of the 71's, and the '68. I don't even keep a passenger seat in the GTP, nobody rides with me. can't say I blame them. Only one wreck has been my error (the rollover) and no one or thing but me and my junk were hurt.

I forgot one... the 76 ElCamino I bought to restore. Within 3 weeks me and it was knocked off the street into a row of used cars. Bleeding and with pop knot. All because the lady had never felt ABS work before. Damn. I pulled the frame, left it a mess and drove it five years.

Maybe it's a Grand Prix curse. Time to switch cars? JK, glad you're OK, again.

    Thanks!

So hard to switch when you have so many and so much spare parts. The only practical thing to do is use all of it up! Its just a soul-killer because I have taken so much pride in my rides over the years but the world is too crowded to allow that now. My only choice is to wallow in the pig pen of cheap junk.

    THIS

But I have had several close calls lately in that one. I barely use it to sneak out back roads and they still try try try to gun me down. Near miss just last weekend, farmer never checked for cars before whipping dually and trailer out of a blind driveway. In town, the following distance I keep with that one just invites people to cut me off, I wasn't a foot from an S-10 at 50 MPH with it a couple weeks ago. They tryin'.

Moving would be good except for I make cheeseburger money and can't do anything cheaper than what I have already even if I did have money or time off to move. Plus I can't move myself with my arm like it is and I don't own anything with a bed. And my work is in the county that totals me out. Its the one place I have sworn I'd never reside again. Just last year they made beer sales legal if that gives you some idea how messed up it is there. My head is where the real mess is, I need out before I find my limit.

You know Matt, I scrapped over 6000 lbs of W body parts when moving. Then threw probably 600 lbs into the Regal when I sold it. It is possible man. And in your line of work, you could potentially buy a wreck and with little time or effort have a nice car, because you seriously need better protection than a GP affords.

A Regal would be a great car for you. Everyone sees it as a senile gramma all hopped up on blood pressure and water retention meds. They seriously steer clear of Regals.

That's **** luck, sorry guy.... has your insurance company become difficult to deal with? ( I understand the last incident did not involve insurance) Just wondering if your insurance company charges you a lot after all of this.

Well last week I learned a new insurance word: subjugation. My case from January has gone to court or will soon. My ins people are bearing with me but my rollover wreck wasn't quite a year old when the one happened in Jan so while they are still determining fault on that, I've lost accident forgiveness. The premium never changes much because I've only been at fault once. They surely are tired of hearing from me but have done what they can every time.

Bill... least credible statements ever. About Regals. Thought you exhaled all the Buick smoke! People don't run into me because I'm in a dirtbag car lol

Matt, I think these people are so blinded by the Sportscarness of the GP that they lose their minds and hit what they are staring at.

Regals don't get hit anywhere near as much as GP's. Because everyone is worried some old screwball is gonna drive the Regal into the side of a building or run them over. Trust me on this.

Hell...Cops don't even pull Regals over.

Woops almost fired up the Lone Ranger box set (my cue to snooze) before checking my own rant thread...

I could dig a first gen Regal perhaps, but figured I had drilled "coupe only" home by now. Have let it slip before, that Century is my FWD Buick choice despite that. Using Buick engines now, thats close enough. I'm sure insurance stats would support your point but one would need to factor in production totals for honesty. Four of the six GPs at a local yard are smashed coupes and my educated guess is coupe rear suspension gets squirrely in a pinch. As I found the hard way. Unload one tire and she snaps out. Dont know if sedans do that as bad but WB is same on GPs. Always wanted just a tag axle instead, myself. I chose W-body for front end stiffness and won that bet, it was just the 2dr GP is the only one with tolerable looks for me.

I'm currently at around 75K and six years in FWD GP coupes and haven't been pulled over in one. Sold my only Buick to a cop maybe thats why. It was a good car with unfortunate history. The prevailing conditions I deal with daily driving is pushing me towards a 1967 or older ride with nothing on it but mild modern power. We're walking in opposite directions as far as that goes. But I'm still enjoying the fwd GP as I have for a long time and it serves me well. I look at this wreck trend as a way to learn about the world and how it works, in order to keep my hard earned place in it. Not a time to adopt superstition or debate divisional superiority on corporate-powered junks.

Never did hear if you got another pickup since yours got wiped, but I figure maybe you fixed it somewhat so you can beat on it awhile and get that kraut-burner.

Heres something cool I saw, gives new meaning to the words "set of four radials". The headline has Pontiac in it but its a lotta joke for a little punch line on that part. Very interesting though, would you wrench on the B-29 if it came to your town? You make it stay in the air, I'll make plenty of shooty-killy-bomby noises from the turrets! lol

Lots of Rivs appeal to me, those included. Anything not available as a sedan gains points! My RWD Buick was a 70 Skylark 2D HT. The only trouble really with my current ride selection is theres no truck. Could just start using the '69 daily and really make the bad drivers pay.
