What really grinds my gears is that I like to have fun in a snow filled empty parking lot just like the next guy. But because of that I'm considered a bad driver. I've never been in an accident I have one ticket which I fought and won. But my girlfriend considers me be a bad driver which really pisses me off because she hasn't even had her license for a year and I've had mine for coming up on 3. End rant

But it's continuous. Does nothing but piss me off. No matter what I'm always unsafe or I'm a bad driver or I'm an Idiot for having fun because she wants me to be safe

just like tiger cubs play. but they are training and dont know it.

playing in a open snow covered lot is about the best training you can get. this way when the car jumps out from under you know how to deal with it.

people who think bad of this are shallow minded people with no street smarts most of the time. ( unless you slid into their car ) lol

    I agree ^

To call it unsafe and that you're a bad driver for intentionally doing that in an empty lot sounds like something a mother would say. Are you sure it's not your mom telling you that? lol

My wife used to think the same (wasn't very vocal about it, but I could tell). I wasn't too worried about it. I drove how I drove and had no wrecks that were my fault and avoided many that would have been the other persons. We have had a couple of close calls that I avoided (one would have certainly put everyone in the car in the hospital). She couldn't believe I managed to maneuver the way I did and maintain control while doing 60 on the interstate in pouring rain. I explained that her driving like a little old lady and being timid was not useful when someone is skidding across the median and about to hit you head on. She gets it now. She hasn't really changed her driving, but now defends me when people insinuate that I drive bad.

This is what I tell EVERYONE. It is the best way to practice control loss. A couple things I also do is I never do it with passengers unless they are okay with it. Also I never practice around other objects such as light poles, cars, or people. I can't even tell you how many times I've been driving along and lost control and regained it without even thinking about it. The first time I lost control was in front of a semi on the highway. Had the car sideways after going over a bridge and somehow brought it back.

If you stress it as a practice to your gf rather than just messing around you can get her to understand. Like I said, I tell everyone it's practice but even though its fun to do I don't emphasize that.
