    Yeah don't go to the grocery stores today, it's crazy. It's like preparing for the Armageddon or something. It looks like you'll be living off cheap pizza lol.

    Oh, and this is a good example of the weather. What you're seeing (the lines) is the high winds and snow lol. Felt great

    got the minor shopping out of the way. Tmw wont be to bad, monday a high of -9/-15 with windchill of -30/-40. Think Ill be telling everyone to stay home from work monday. Tuesday possibly 1° woo!

    They shut down school state wide here in MN for monday.

    Something like mad dood said, temps might reach a high of -15ish with windchills of stupid below zero.

    And I have to work at 7am monday, which will be gay but atleast my cars block heater will plugged in for 2 days on a set timer.

    But I'm worried I'll screw something up with removing freeze plugs or leak coolant with it. I have removed freeze plugs before but that was on an engine on a stand.

    pop a easy front one out.

    i remember last winter a guy from Alaska, his block heater rotted out on him, and it was a easy swap. he had pics and all. looked pretty easy to deal with.

    Man oh man my Intrepid is going to make a hell of a lot of noise when I start it Monday morning. Supposed to be about -13 degrees with a -40 degree wind chill when I go out to start the car. Thing makes funny noises as it is when its only 30 degrees out!

    Funny? My power steering pump just whined for a few seconds when at 2°F. What kind of noises do you mean?

    Belt noises, ps whine, rockers claddering, minor knocking etc etc, its a 2.7 dodge.

    Hear it all the time at work in the winter, more so on older cars with higher miles when starting em up after an oil change.

    Yep all the above..... let me fix something for ya.

    Yup had a 2.7 but that blew at 68k so now rocking a 3.5 running on 3 cylinders, pretty sure there is a broken wire somewhere.

    I'd like to see the pics. I seems like an easy install in theory, it's just that its really cold out and that means a total cooling system drain and fill. It will have to wait til a warmer day or next fall. Also what holds the heater in? I know there's a nut on the front but I don't know how it holds it when it's in the center.

    it basically wedges in the hole like a freeze plug, the bolt holds it in the hole.

    yes, all the coolant from the engine will drain out for sure when the plug come out.

    ill search around and see if i can find the thread, its f ing old tho lol

    See the 2 arms on the threaded nut, those spread out and grab the inside of the block to pull it tight and seal the o-ring around the hole.

    Yeah, I'd look but all I can search is block heater and it only comes up a few threads asking questions lol

    Oh that's neat, seems like it would stay in place pretty well. Although it looks different than the GM part. I think I'll order one, and hold onto it until I eventually get around to installing it.

    Yeah not bad. What's the part # for the 3800? I see 998956, 12496651, and 999222. And the # for the picture Five Finger posted is: 11603

    Also our impala was made in canada, I wonder if it has the heater? Probably not since it was designed for the US but still recommends 5w-30 like the canadian cars do.

    Haha on ebay there's two part numbers, both claim to be oem and fit the same engine. I'll see if I can figure it out.
