Fixing stuff sucks

I know its something everyone deals with lol I just felt like ranting, do you guys ever just get stressed/overwhelmed with all the **** you have to do to your cars? With all the work Ive already had done I still have a power steering leak and coolant leak, still need to do valve covers, passenger window motor, brakes, and I need to have my friend weld metal into one of my rear struts and Ive still yet to find a replacement door panel lol plus the shop that checked my car out for me basically said the undercarriage is pretty badly rusted and being in high school I dont make alot to take care of all these relatively soon, its just overwhelming sometimes, again I know this stuff is part of life I just kind of felt like ranting about it, but either way I still love my car.

old cars need love. you can junk yard some of the stuff you need. vs full price new parts.


i got a easy 2 grand in parts invested in my car. all maintance related, not a single mod lol

you just bite off a little bit at a time. thats what i did. over time you'll have it up to speed.


i agree it sucks knowing how much needs to be done. i got my regal for 800 bucks knowing it needed a lot of work. the work never ends tho lol

That's piddly stuff. Try dealing with removal, disassembly, reassembly, and reinstall of a transmission 3 times in two day to diagnose a grinding noise.

Everyone knows I'm the go-to guy when it comes to window motors and rad flushes, if only because I feel like I've done both far, far too many times. I've sank the better part of two grand in parts this year.

I had no choice on the driver motor - it got stuck halfway down, and wouldn't rise any higher than that no matter how hard I forced it up by hand. And there was a line of thunderstorms coming in. I was in the parking lot of AutoZone (the only place that was still open at midnight) changing the motor... I got done, I **** you not, about 5 minutes before the downpour.

Oh yeah. One time I had to pull the trans for one reason or another, and the garage was in use by my brother's race car so I put it in the driveway and started on it. From starting with the tires on on the ground I had the trans on the ground in about 45 minutes.

Bill's system is amazing. He can do swaps on the floor with jacks faster than most mechanics can do it on lifts with engine hoists.


As for the RUST, get under the car with a power drill and wire brush. Knock out all the loose rust and hit the rest with POR 15 call it a day.

I enjoy fixing things for the most part. It's just paying for it that I don't like lol. If someone handed me an advance auto card that I could use to buy anything I wanted there and not have to pay, my car would have an entirely new suspension front and rear.

ive told a few shops that the swap was done in 4 hours and they were like that didn't happen. im like yes it did, on the ground no lift. i was there. and there was some goof off time in the 4 hours time too.

Bills house seems to always have someone stopping by, lol at least the day i was there it was busy.

they all said it takes them all day or close to it.

It's a old car so I expect repairs to be needed. Most of the things aside from the rust/welding is simple inexpensive fixes.


Or you could shell out $300+ a month on a car payment that may or may not also need repairs.

car payments come with a 100,000 mile warranty. so it runs out when everything is just starting to wear out lol
