So I took my car in today to have the tires re-balanced but due to the fact that I am running Mustang Bullets they decided to hold my car hostage. I had the option of getting my car towed or buy a set of new wheels and tires. I was able to get my car back by calling up my dad, who works nearby, and using a cheap jack from the auto parts store swapped the wheels and tires from his car to mine. But Discount Tire would not let us use their parking lot to perform the swap, so we were able to use the nearby body-shops bay. All of this trouble over 0.7mm!

Edit: I'm guessing since the rims are technically a 114.3 instead of 115 they through a temper tantrum over it. Lmao

Yep that is exactly it. They gave me the BS that the wheels are going to instantly fall off my car. That is because none of the know how to use a simple tool called a torque wrench.

They wouldn't use a torque wrench anyways they'll do what every other asshole mechanic does and just use a impact on them. Sounds like they tried to take advantage of you.. Never had that happen to me but then again I'm a naturally angry asshole so I don't think ill ever have to deal with that.

I'm glad I have small mom & pop places around here that don't care and just want your business. They also do damn good work.

I go to a small Mennonite family owned tire shop. They are reasonably priced and do great work. My dad had to take his Corvette to a bigger town to get new tires, because nobody around here wanted to screw up the wheels.

That reminds me of a time many years ago (before I was as awesome as I am now) to have tires put on my car...they told me that I needed new sway bar end links and one of my hubs was bad...they wanted $475 to do it...I said I was fine with how it was (not knowing what those things were at the time), and I'd come pick it up. 6 months later, I brought it back to the same place, and they told me the same thing, and quoted $125 to do it...ummm...okay!

2 years later when I learned (lurnt for those still in school) what those things were, and I was kinda pissed I spent $125 to have someone do it. Oh well - live and learn.

That's how they get you try to sell you additional service.. Your tire rods are bad blah blah it'll be this amount to fix we recommend you do them now. No thank you for the $300-400 you'll charge me I'll take a hour out of my day and change them myself for free.

I like discount tire but they are really dumb about this. I had 114.3s on my grand prix once and they didn't realize it till after they were done putting tires on it and I happened to mention it for some reason. The guy completely flipped his **** when he found out. I thought he was going to throw me out of the store. Was ridiculous. Total dumbass.

Can't be as bad when my dad got his oil changed in his GP, they installed a belt too. Then the chick broke then tensioner pulley clean off, and the owner had the audacity to tell us to pay for it to be replaced for like $125 that didn't happen. Same shop, went in to diagnose transmission problems (ended up being bad cat) they replaced the cat and resonator with the welding of a 3 year old, without asking us for permission. So when he asked like I think $450 - $350 for it. My mom declined and he threatened to call the police thinking we were gonna rip him off or something. Some places are just silly.

Atleast where I work, we bring customers back and show them exactly whats wrong and how to go about it. But we still do get those folks that just think we are out for their wallet and then either do it themselves or take to someone else.

^ I never mind that..if something is shot show me then I have no problem taking care of it myself but when you tell me something like that and I know good and well they aren't (usually because I was under the car rather recent and made a point to eXpect that prior to getting a alignment etc) then I have a issue. I mostly stick to mom and pops shop anyways if I need something done that I can't do myself. They tend to be cheaper, quicker and better at informing you what's going on.
