My car uses the front turn signals as DRLs. It's supposed to use 3157 bulbs, but these don't last long they overheat and loose the amber color within a few days and burn. The housing overheats and cracks overtime letting water inside flooding it and corroding the socket haha. So after new sockets and sealing the housings I've tried a couple brands and models of LED bulbs because they are supposed to create less heat, but that's very far from the truth. All the LED bulbs I've tried overheat and self-destruct:

Has anyone successfully used LED bulbs that can handle this type of use? So far I've found that the regular 4157 bulbs are designed for DRL use and these are the ones that I have on right now. They seem to be working fine so far without loosing the amber color, but the heat issue still remains. I haven't found LED bulbs with the 4157 model number anywhere either.

have you tried disconnecting the DRLs? I did it on my firebird and then ended up putting different lights in and yada yada yada. I've had switchbacks in my Explorer, however and the LEDs started going out after like a year and a half (I always have my parking lamps on so it's like DRLing).

I think I will have to do that. I was hoping to keep the DRLs I like how they look (white and yellow combo).
