$3.92 for 87 here
We were just In PA which their prices were about the same as ours, in Cleveland we paid $3.55 a few other stations were $3.63
|
SOME of ours are dropping.
I paid $3.93 for 93 last night at the Shell near my gym. Drove 3 blocks down and the 93 at that station was $4.19. Two miles away it was $4.32. Seriously. (It pays to go to the gym when you're supposed to...)
for those of you who care, and those who cant afford the alcohol/water injection,or those who simpley dont want to put that on their car. I personally got more milage from a tank of fuel by using acetone (pure). yes the stuff you find in the paint section of your store or my favorite in the cosmetics isle. the bottles are easier to deal with. I have traveled all over the united states with this trick. I use 2.5 oz of acetone per 10 gal of gas/diesel. rember that most fuels are slightly different and this formula might take some tweaking to make it work best for you.
I am not trying to sell anything, nor am I a chemical engineer, this is something that I read on the internet and tried for myself. I just want to give something back to the community that has shared so much knowledge with me.
Oh yea you can expect an average of 15-20% increase in your milage.
98 gtp 22mpg=32 mpg
02 f350 crew cab 4wd 12mpg=18mpg
sorry keep in mind that if you use to much your fuel consumption will rise. not enough and you really wont see a difference.
just filled up
$1.33900/l * 3.78l in 1 usgal * .97 (exchange rate) = $4.9095774USD/GALLON
*shrug* at least it went down.
Hopefully on my way home today I'll be filling up with 87 at $3.65.
I have read a few articles on this as well.

I have always wondered about it, but I never really had the stones to try it. Also for the fact I have never really remembered what the actual fuel storage capacity of our GP's is. So I have never wanted to over do it or under do it.
But I am really glad to see it is working for you Makes me almost wanna consider doing it once I figure out the real tank size of our cars.
I know My 05 say's it is a 17 gallon tank
I personally will wait until the low fuel light comes on. pump my fuel, and then add my acetone to my tank. then for good measure I stick the pump nozel back in the tank and give it a click. that way I know how much went in adn how much to add, the click is to wash it into the tank. doing it this was helps me keep track of mpg as well.
Running you car too low on gas will break your fuel pump. Gasoline is used to cool the fuel pump. I used to let my Mercury Sable run low before filling up and had to get it replaced. I make it point to fill up whenever I'm at 1/4 tank.
I gassed up in Evansville IN and it was only $3.86 for 92oct there. And then in Louisville it was upto $4.06 for 93 and back home in St. Louis last night it was at $3.93 for 93. Pretty interesting to see how it varies from State to State. But I like that it is keeping down for now.
One guess is that it always seems during election times, that gas prices tend to dip to make people feel more comfortable. That's just a hunch of course
Still $4.11 - 4.15 for regular old 85 here in Utah.
$3.85 for 89 in west central NH
3.65 for 87, 3.85 for 93 in BFE, Virginia.
