Ok sorry, never came here to blow off steam yet but I felt the need to today.
For the last few months, I've been tinkering on my car, attempting to get it right. For those of you who do not know, the original motor blew and I put a salvage yard motor in. After the swap, it would not fire my stepfather and I worked on that for a while(Want to say thank you to BillBoost and the many others who offered assistance on that one). Once we got that problem situated, it was still running rough as hell and had an exhaust leak. Fast forward, exhaust leak fixed but I began hearing a backfire in the exhaust. Scanned codes found codes for TPS as well as MAF, replaced all sensors on the throttle body, still has a miss but idles better now. I hooked up a scanner again to monitor the live data, number 3 is missing like crazy(the current miss field gets as high as 188) unless I am giving it throttle. I am the first to admit I do not know much about cars, but I am attempting to learn.
I went out there to day and I have tried different wires, tried a different coil and no change. while I am outside, my stepfather comes up and says "How's it coming?" So I tell him the situation about how number three misses at idle but goes away when given moderate throttle. When cruising down the road, the miss is minimal. He says "So, what's the problem?" I told him that it keeps throwing the SES light and his suggestion? electrical tape over my SES light. "As long as it is getting you from A to B, I would let it ride"...
Sorry, I know that is how you may let your cars operate, but I don't want it to be "point a to point b...but with problems" I want it to run RIGHT dammit!
If there is something wrong, I want to fix it...bottom line.
Ok sorry, just had to let that out lol.
