I've been shopping for a Grand Prix for months. I finally found one cheap with high miles. Checked it out, looked decent for the money and ran great. It's a black 98 GT with 180k on the body and 107k on the motor. Drove it 70 miles to my garage and I was thrilled with it. I went to start it to go to the car wash and the fuel pump died. lol

Just my luck. At least it looks really easy to get to. I'm not used to stuff that's easy.

Already bought the parts and then some, can't wait to get it on the road!

It could only be the fuel pump resistor or even a bad relay.

Id start simple first with those 2, but it could still be the pump.

I bought a relay and did all the troubleshooting last night with some friends (who are mechanics and have all the diagnostic toys). It seems like it's the pump. It also needed a sender since the gauge didn't work, so that works out lol.

Sorry but for $130 cheapo pump on a $1900 high mileage car, I'll take my chances.

    I don't think a 98 GT has a fuel pump resistor, just a relay.
My car has an Airtex for over 90K miles and still works great. It was expensive though 'cause I got the whole unit with pressure sensor and fuel level.
