So, got in an accident about a month ago with my 02 grand prix gt. problem is, my odometer reads about 180K but i just put a different engine in (an 01 grand prix gt motor with about 110K on it) and they refuse to adjust my appraised value because i don't have a receipt from a certified garage (they say i have to prove the engine isn't from my car some other way). i sent them the title of the vehicle it came out of (was my dad's) and they still are saying the title doesn't prove that the engine is in the vehicle. how the heck am i supposed to prove the engine is in my car to get what it's worth?! i can't find info on whether or not there are engine codes that match to the title i have for the other car. any ideas?! i'm just getting fed up with trying to deal with my insurance

Having a different motor doesn't make your car worth any more.

And more so: you have to disclose these things when you do them so they can adjust your rate.

If I told insurance everytime I changed a part on my Stealth I'd have had to call them once a month for awhile there.

Welcome to the forums lol. Honestly tho the value will barely be much different even with the right paper work. Thats like when I buy a car and someone tells me it has new tires. Im just thinking ok it has safe tires with tread as all cars should. Not trying to get on you but the value difference isnt going to be much its a NA motor for a NA motor same series

Or if you lived in Canada they'd drop you instantly and you'd never be able to insure that type of vehicle again.

For that alone I sat, Canada sucks.

I don't think one single part of that car is stock. Both fenders have been changed, both doors, the hatch, the hood is aftermarket, front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, taillights, headlights, marker lights, engine, transmission (5 times), fog lights, interior, wheels, suspension, and the list goes on.

Interesting situation, but really there is no way to prove any of it.

Regardless I'm surprised it makes a $1500 difference.

    nope.

In fact the series III engines still had series II stamped on the block.

there was a change in the head casting, but both engines will have the same casting numbers.
