Sometimes there is nothing cooler than a guy riding a motorcycle, they go fast, do tricks, and are just sexy sometimes. But at the same time I really hate some of them. First just let me say thanks to all the responsible riders out there, and sorry for any stupid traffic you've had to deal with. Anyways.... The other night while I was driving home, I had two crotch rockets next to me trying to show off on the street. From a stop light the closer of the two does a wheelie. As I go from the light I see him start to pick up and then immediatly the bike heads right at my front fender. I slam hard on the brakes and he almost hits the median and then regainded control. At the next red light he hits his front brake to bring the bike forward for a "cool" stop and the bike falls to the right...idiot. I almost killed him, and he still wants to fool around in heavy traffic where the speed limit is 45 mph. In the last three days, I've know four people who have been hospitalized showing off on their bikes. There is a place and gear for those sort of things and it sure as hell isn't next to my car!

That gear is called a casket. Here in St. Louis there have been a number of accidents related to just the very thing you mentioned. There was even one lady who was paralyzed when she swerved to avoid a gang of crouch rocket jerks who cut infront of her and she lost control of her SUV and wrecked. The bikers were never found and the woman is now paralyzed from the waist down.

I agree, the bikes are cool and there are places to do their stupid stunts, and that place is not on public roads or highways!

I feel your anger there brother!!

There's a group in Atlanta that if you don't run 130 or better, you can't ride with them. They actually have a vehicle that follows with a shovel so who ever wipes out, they scrape up what they can and keep hauling butt. This is through traffic and everything. I don't know how many of you have been through Atlanta, but traffic is from not moving to about 15 mph and you have these donkey's doing this. Pure stupidity.

I look at it like "population control." The more these morons kill themselves the less we have to worry about later on. Harsh? YES! But it is a cold hard fact that these types of acts will continue till either the smarter ones, if there any, will realize maybe we should tone our act down a bit. But until then, "Let the Bodies hit the floor."

It's called natural selection in my book. Eventually they all end up in the ground if they keep those stupid stunts up.

I saw a kid with his girl on the back they were on a GSXR and he was racing a Nissan Altima equipped with a big exhaust can the GSXR chose to blast down the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic to beat the Nissan. He was so cool they were not wearing helmets or any riding gear, she would look so pretty with road rash and scarred for life. They think they are invincible and nothing can happen to them but sooner or later it will catch up with them.

Bikes have to put up with a lot of dangerous cars, but there are also bikers who do a lot of stupid stuff.

We've had several bike accidents recently at work. In one, a young man was only doing about 80 MPH, but once he saw the cops he decided to speed up to get away from them. When his bike hit the back of a truck at over 100 MPH, the bike stopped but he kept going.

Luckily, where I live, there aren't a whole lot of stupid bikers (more stupid bicyclists <college town>), but the ones who are stupid are REALLY stupid. Wheelies in between 70 MPH traffic doing over 100, Passing on the relatively narrow shoulders, Driving on sidewalks for blocks to avoid traffic and/or stoplights, Doing endo's up to multiple stoplights... The list goes on. And, it's sooooo much worse when Bikes Blues and BBQ comes around in the late summer.

I will second what DesQ27 said about the safe bikers out there, though. Thank you for being safe and responsible.

I own nothing but cruiser style bikes. In my opinion........

    Crotch rocket
    inexperienced rider
    stunt bike TV shows

combine all 3 above...and you have one deadly combo!!!!

in the end look at what happened to Indian Larry. He was a great guy, and one heck of a show off, but he bit it in the end.

    RIP Larry!

That's what I hate. The dumba$$es that do all them stupid stunts give the rest of us that do ride crotch rockets a bad name. I just like the style of the bikes. To me, they are comfortable to ride. Could care less about doing those stupid tricks and hauling a$$. I am out there to enjoy riding, so hauling butt only makes the trip faster. But, you get that in whatever you do.

I have seen them, and laugh when one gets busted (had one on 285 try and go through traffic where there had been a crash)
