here you can see where the deer was dragged on the pavement w/ my car

so hit that asshole doing 80 at 4am in fog. someone else hit it, left it in the road and i got to reap the rewards for stupidity
    so the damage:
the bumper mounts for the lower section of the wheel wells are gone
and my catback was ripped off

so the entire undercarriage and catback was COVERED in deer. lucky me i had to put the catback in the car and smell rotting deer 20 miles to work.

so called my brother. he got the pickup up to my work, took the car and had it pressure washed, then the catback and it's sitting in the side yard right now. but finally gonna fix the ****ty header paint on the tips and go caliper paint the whole catback

Better than you hitting a person doing 80mph in fog. Not giving you a hard time, saying it might not have been the smartest thing and you probably got lucky.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Hows the smell? mine has stayed with the car for a few months now even with numerous undercarriage washings.

Bill, im guessing that he didn't hit it on purpose. Im guessing he didn't see it til it was too late with the dark/fog. Buuuut, then again I could be wrong!? Lol

If I'm not mistaken, Bill's points were that those are good reasons to not do 80mph. He hit a stationary object because he was going too fast to react in those conditions. He'd have been toast if it was a leaping deer.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

My point exactly. OP got lucky. Toss out a million what if's..

Dead battery in a car (driven by woman, hence in middle of road)
    Deer jumping
Moose (hey..I'm close to moose country)
Anything higher than 3 feet and it would have likely impaled the OP.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no saint on the roads either..just tossing out there the "Don't just be mad, feel lucky too" post. I'd feel very lucky if I were the OP. Catback and some cosmetics are relatively easy to fix vs what "could have" happened.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Hit a deer in my 2003 grand am on christmas day, car was probobly only worth like $2000,
Insurance wrote it off for $5300 under comprehensive , you should make them pay for repairs if its less then book value.

This. If you can't stop or get out of the way of a stationary object in the road, you are either going too fast or not paying attention. Regardless of the guy hitting the deer and leaving it there, you are just as much at fault.

Sorry to hear bout your luck bro. Never hit a deer but missed one doing 65 on the way to school in my Dads Monte Carlo SS. Woulda been alot of explaining for me to do cause it took him like 6 months to locate the pace car edition one so he would not have been a happy camper cause he would have to go look for another. lol
