Tim and I have been in communication. Pretty sure it's gonna work out. I wish I could just slap a converter in it and call it good but I worry about the possible metal that it may have tossed through the rest of the trans.

Umm sh1t happens/ sh1t breaks good thing you had the warranty on it and I'd at least give the guy a chance to fix it before throwing the guy under the bus and here comes the TEP parade, IMO if its still garbage shortly after he fixes it then maybe their are "better" options.

    Actually I do

90 day warranty? What good is that if your car is parked half the year ?
But still. Warranty on a trans is long enough to ensure proper installation and break in of parts. After that it's a crap shoot based on driving style, torque management and tuning

Did Tim have any recommendations on flushing the trans? Just curious if this could be repaired with out a complete rebuild.

He wants me to ship it back to find out what happened. I am leaning towards throwing a converter in it, reacing the tcc and pcs solenoids just for good measure in case one was bad. And flushing it through a cooler line while it's running to make sure any junk is out of there. Honestly the way things are looking I really think the torque converter was the culprit here.

i would send it back man. if it's got metal running through it could have messed up the internals. so even if it is simply the TC let him take it apart and honor his warranty that way if there are some internals messed up you don't void the warranty by fooling with it.

that may void your warranty, unless you talked about it with him.

its probably best to just send it back and get it rebuilt, if it has metal in the fluid, its everywhere, and that's not good for a long life.

i'd let him stand behind his work. and in the long run im sure you will be happier.

Yes I'm gonna run it by him before I do anything. If he's cool with it I'll do that. If not I'll ship it back. Just have to find another transmission locally to put in so I can drive it in the mean time. Sucks because I'm unemployed at the moment

in that case dont put another converter in it, most likely it will be dead too after the metal that will be still in the trans hits it. wasted money if you ask me.

flush your trans cooler, or radiators trans cooler real good to, even before you put in the JY trans.

Yea I plan on flushing before I remove the trans first to swap converters, and I always flush the cooler before I swap transmissions

your talking a good chunk of change at this with no guarantee that its going to last another 1,000 miles, put that converter money towards the jy trans and shipping.

i hear where your coming from, but in the long run you will be so much better off if you just send it back to tim and let him do his thing.

im a big fan of trying to fix stuff on the cheep but the trans is no place to even try to cheep out, especially when i have a warranty that's still active. just my 2 cents.
