Why can't someone ask about modding an N/A without someone saying to go topswap or turbo? Why can't we N/A guys just have a stout N/A? Why is there this HUGE elitist attitude by all the supercharged guys? We all drive the same car more or less. Help someone out and move on. Don't crap all over his question by telling him he is wasting his time and will never have an über fast and totally awesome car unless he topswaps. Not everyone wants a track car. Some are just looking for more pep in the step of their N/A.

It's not that it happens everytime someone asks about modding an N/A, but it irritates the crap outta me when someone just pops into a thread and says "Topswap or nothing" or "Turbo ftw". One or both of these mods may be more trouble than they are worth and cost much more money in the long run. If the funds aren't available, we work with what we have. LET US HAVE OUR MODDED N/A'S AND STOP POOPING ON OUR HOPES AND DREAMS!!!!!!

OK, that'll do it for me.

Lol.. Having owned both a GT, and GTP...I wouldn't even worry about doing anything more to a GT, than basic mods to increase gas mileage. But I do agree about the elitest attitude.

Then again, most people with GT's asking about mods, are wanting to be running with GTP's..which = the "topswap or turbo" dealio.

Also, since there are threads upon threads of the same "make my GT faster" topic, Im pretty sure people are getting tired of it....

Because, for the money ud make getting the n/a gt to make the stock 1/4 times of a gtp, you could easily buy a topswap + some more.

A lot of us have made the mistake and purchased a GT and dumped money into making it faster...then later on finally getting thr point that topswap or selling/buying a gtp is a better option. We don't have to say anything but its a FORUM so we try to help other members make the right decision. If that person..persons can't take advice then he/she should not have joined.

Because we only trying to help, you want the power, then these motors N/A wise are absolutely WORTHLESS. They love BOOST!

I don't go into threads telling people to top swap or turbo. Its all up to you on what you want to do. Honestly I would buy a GT on the sole purpose of making it Turbo, cause honestly these GTPs have a wall, turboing allows for alot more room to play with power. SO with that, I think Comp G (only because I'm cool cause I own one) > GT > GTP > GXP > *

If you want to be an N/A wannabe join the 95-03 maxima guys, They are about the only V6 guys hitting 12.5-131/4s with just bolt-ons, there is an all out built N/A maxima that has made a 10.9 1/4 pass. No juice. I don't see a 3800 motor in N/A form doing that kind of 1/4 mile time since the most they can manage in N/A format is 190-200whp with a 3,500 lbs status...you really can't hope for much.

Because topswap is the best answer. Nobody ever asks, whats the worst bang for my buck? If you asked a room full of GT owners what you needed to make a GT fast, you're going to hear topswap from most of them. It's not a elitist attitude, it's just the best answer. If someone wants to hear only about N/A options, then that person should specify that. Otherwise you can expect page after page of people saying "go topswap", until bio closes it because drunkie posted a random cock picture.

To give you a breakdown OP there are ways to make a N/A fast and run "OK" times. FWI,hv3, Headers/plog, Ported TB, Cam/rockers, heads, Good custom tune, poly mounts, shift kit, good perf. tires, some weight reduction, maybe spray, and some suspension mods. With all that depending on the route you take you may get away with mid 13's but.... the cost.. Probably topping $4k when all is said and done. Top swapping is something im looking into because it makes sense and i had the same attitude also. Spend only $2k with a top swap setup and youll do mid 13's or better.See
04 GTP-3.6 pulley, custom tuned, Intake, headers, thrush exhaust, al104 plugs, 180* stat, shift kit, flipped mounts

I think we need to look at it in context. Does the person want to go all out and keep up with Sc'd cars etc? Then topswap/turbo is their best way to go. Most 3800 drivetrain owners want to do the most for the least amount of money... Presto top swap is lower cost than turbo tyipcally.

Why do I always tell guys with vacuum leaks to check the EGR to LIM tube? It's the most commonly overlooked vacuum leak on the motor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

dmahlikGT^(like) ...like button doesnt work at work

I respect your rant. Thats what this is for.

I have noticed however that there is a pecking order, but I accept that. There is a reason it goes Turbo - Top Swap - GTP - GT - SE - GXP(j/k).

Track car builders make the most use out of this forum from my perspective, so that is what you're going to hear the most.

    Cheers.

^^ That's fine. And some of these mods are great for improving just the driveability(sp?) of these cars, which is something that is greatly needed. But not everyone is looking for a "race car". Just a better driving car. It's not all about speed. Us N/A guys should know better than the rest of you that our cars are certainly not fast by any means. In the end, some of us just want a better car, not necessarily a faster car. Damnit. lol.

No ones saying not to mod your car, Just saying when you start the mod bug you will keep going. I can assure you that, and like all of us that started N/a you will be kicking yourself for not just adding boost from the get go.

faster = better. It would be a waste to mod an NA car at all if you couldnt sell/use the mods after you get boost. unless you want to replace the stupid runners in the UIM with an even stupider priced HV3. or if you want to make it sound better.
