How in the world do you people afford all these parts, some of it is crazy, lol.

Like, admittedly Im only 22 and I dont make quite that much at the moment, and Im still paying off my GP.. but even before I had these bills to pay I never remember myself sitting around on any considerable amount..

Some of you guys talk about dropping a thousand dollars or even more on parts and other assorted things like it's taking a nice afternoon walk in the park.

What are your incomes like? What kind of jobs do you people do?
Am I really that far out of the ballpark? lol

Tell me how you bastards do it!
    ...tired of bein jealous

I'm 22 and just spent a few grand on mods. Its all about working hard for what you want. I was working 7 days a week for a while. My job doesn't have the best pay, but its decent. I'm working 6 days a week all this month which helps.

You seem to have a newer car.

How much did you pay for it?

That probably has a lot to do with it.

    Yeah your profile says 2008.

If you had bought say a 2002 it would have cost you half as much.

I have mad bills and a hefty car payment. Just save and buy things piece by piece. It took 3-4 months to get my topswap & cam parts all together.

This. Most of my mods come during the summer, as my paychecks triple then. I just do things when I can, and do mostly maintenance during the winter.

    it is called saving...

also, none of us (unless you have a ton of money) buy things in mass quantity and build the car in less than 6 months.

i make decent money for where i live.. but having 2 kids and a old lady in cosmetology school to support, times are tuff right now. but after she graduates we should being doing pretty good for our selves... i usually blow a good chunk of change on parts and stuff at tax time and hope nothing breaks in between tax seasons

Yeah, The parts are outrageous for the 3800's. Just save up for what you want.

Buying things used helps. Browse the forums constantly and have some money set aside, then when you see something you like at a good price, buy it.

Even if the asking price looks good, it never hurts to negotiate.

Yeah, mine had like 10k on the clock when I bought it, was like 13k without the interest from the loan... I guess I didnt really think about my car being on the way newer end of the Gp spectrum.

That's true, but for the complaining I just did, I guess I'd rather have a car with a really big aftermarket available at cost, rather than a car where you're pretty much stuck stock unless you're good at fabricating stuff.
