I'm not sure what to do...I've ordered parts from them for awhile now and generally am happy with the products. This time is a totally different story. I ordered both front hubs (Raybestos as I couldn't afford the Timkens) and axles (Cardone Select) and after only 2 weeks of being on the car ('97 GP GT) the driver's side axle is clicking and the hub is roaring. This is totally unacceptable!!! What can I do? I thought I'd ask here first before I loose my cool and call them and raise hell...lol. It took most of my monthly budget money to get the parts and have them installed and now I'm looking at doing it all over again? Bull!! Thanks for any help in advance...

I know to be nice, but it's just soooo frustrating to have to go all through this again - car in the shop, etc. I got the Raybestos ones because of the warranty on parts AND labor, but the hoops you have to go through...ugh.

Not trying to be rude, but did you buy the cheaper parts expecting them to perform as good as the timken or other high quality expensive parts? Typically with car parts that undergo extreme wear its best to buy name brand parts that have a good reputation. Raybestos does make very good parts, but you have to pay for there professional line. Rock Auto is not to blame for at all since they are a distributor. They are offering more products to their consumers, and its the consumers choice to decide what they should spend.

What did you torque the CV shaft nut too, as this is important to preload the bearing in the hub. If the wheel hub is torqued incorrectly it can cause premature wear.

    ^^That.

And I recommend TIMKIN bearings for a reason...they are the best. Gotta pay to play.

The Timkins on RA are like $100, half off the $200+ price at autozone.
That sucks they failed but you gotta pay to play. My dad always puts the cheap hub bearings on his 01 GPGT and they need replaced almost yearly.

Thanks all for your input, was away getting the new bearing put on. I did go with the Timken this time. No lights on and it's quiet. Yes, "you get what you pay for" usually turns out to be true, but I would hope a bearing would last longer than 2 weeks no matter what brand or what price, excluding the junk yard, of course. I DID originally buy the Raybestos Professional grade bearings, hence my unhappiness at them only lasting 2 weeks. I paid, so now I can go play again!

Get timken don't cheap out on important components of your car. Also do the work your self and id jack up the car and see if you can spin the wheel freely if not then it could be the shops fault. Take it back to them and see what they say first before complaning to a well known company that only distributes you parts cheaper than you could get anywhere else.

Rock Auto is taking the bad hub back under warranty, no problems. The Raybestos professional grade has a better warranty than the Timken, so I went with that originally...my bad for not going with Timken in the first place - lesson learned!

I buy stuff from rockauto almost weekly. I've always had good luck with them. They don't make the parts though, they just sell them at a good price. If you choose the cheaper parts and they don't last, chalk it up to learning experience and take your lumps.

If you have a mild build that's supercharged, go with New Napa Max Drive CV shafts. These are pretty decent and have a lifetime replacement.

If your build is more extreme, then stick with GM shafts or SFPH (south florida pulley headquarters) CV shafts.
