one of my best friends is a manager at the local autozone, he has some pretty classic stories about cutomers. for the most part the store is pretty good. lots of experience really, he has a lifted jeep and a cammed 3400 swapped beretta, the store manager has a toyota pickup that i believe he's swapped a chevy smallblock into, one of the other guys has a TT swapped 300zx... not bad for a retail chain

I very very rarely go into the chain stores. There is a local place around here that has quite a few stores around the area. They usually have whatever I need and they actually know quite a bit. The nice thing is I can get a discount there through my dads work. They buy alot from there so they give the company discounts. Plus, they will take any parts needed up to his shop for free.

This epidemic of stupid of which you speak is not limited to only the retail auto parts industry.

Went to the Carquest Warehouse thinking they would have people there that knew what they were doing. I was wrong.

Asked for the rubber isolator to hang the exhaust on. Most places only have 1 when our cars require 2. Took the picture in with the parts and parts numbers on it thinking he would just put in the part number and cross reference it if they didnt have that brand.

He asked me what the car was? I told him. Make, Model, Year and Motor. He proceeded to ask me if it was supercharged? I had just told him a naturally aspirated 3.8L. All the information was on the paper I handed him I knew this was going to be difficult.

He looked for a good 15 minutes and had the exhaust system pulled up, but the part number would not cross reference so he finally swung the monitor around so I could see what he was looking at. The O ring was right on the page. I pointed to it he said when he clicked on it that it called it a bracket. I asked him to click on the word bracket when it pulled up. He did and sure enough the O ring appeared.

I then aske for an 02 socket. He couldn't find it for "that application". I said it's a generic tool and this is a parts warehouse and you don't have one? He said no. I asked him to go get the part and I would look around the store for it. He went in the back to get the part and I found the socket and brought it up to him. He asked me what it said on it? Showed him that it said Oxygen Sensor Socket.

This was a parts depot warehouse. Those guys should know what parts or at least tools.

I used to work at Advance auto parts, most of us knew our stuff. I did however have a couple crank calls for parts when I worked there, and let's just say i'm good at feeding trolls.

Place in grand rapids, I can get rotors for 25 a peice, I got a wheel bearing for 72, it has great deals, and the people don't offer advice probably because they know you know what you're doing
Does removing the spare count as weight reduction?

44 were built and 43 were destroyed. I think the only one left is owned by Gm.

Its simple...when dealing with idiots like the people that work at autozone just play along with them and make them go and grab 10-15 things you dont need from the back. Then ask them to find out what type of blinker fluid you car needs along with the muffler bearing. Most will actually look in the damn book

If you **** with people who are honestly trying to help you then you don't deserve any help at all.

Its people that come in with an attitude that get slow service.

And sometimes, they are refused service, or instead will receive incorrect service.

You don't **** with people who prepare your food so why should it be any different with people who give you parts?

actually we offer a listing for a muffler bearing for a 05 ford gt...lol. also our aftermarket catalog lists a flux capacitor. we also do offer headlight fluid for the mercedes benz that have the little wipers on their headlights. seriously tho its never the company its the employees. doesnt matter where you work there will always be idiots and a-team players in each business. fact is i do it my way and im mature enough to be responsible to control my way. i cant tell you how many people ive stolen from other competitors.
