As some of you know i work at a shop called Sinderellas. I've been there since before it opened. i did all the electrical for the store and they offered me a job as a cashier knowing i was getting laid off so i took the offer. Since the store opened it has gotten a lot busier. and early in the beginning they had asked if we'd be alright if pay was a couple days late, i had no problem with it untill now. It has gotten so backed up that they owe me up to 4000 in back pay. the only time i see a paycheck is when i ask for it stating what bill it should cover or with the instance of my car, hit em up for 1000 dollars to rebuild the s/c when it just needed to have the DP swapped . But am i a moron for staying with this company and getting too deep in debt? At this point i'm afraid to leave for fear of not finding another job the way things are. What do you all think? I just stepped down from the assistant managers position for the reason i never saw any pay increase EVER.

4K !!! I simply quit going to weekend drills for 2 months one time had the overseas time in for that year so I could afford to miss the weekend points to have a good year retirement wise. I did this because drill was 180 miles from my house and I wasnt getting paid milage or a hotel. When its standard for anyone living farther than 60miles from drill be paid milage, hotel, costs, and perdieum for meals! Im not leaving my house to work if Im LOSING money!

IMO your getting raped and money doesnt fall of trees Id make them pay the 4k like yesturday or seek a lawyer you have rights against them anyways!!

It can be hard to confront what you feel to be "friends" or otherwise good people. It is easy for others to say "do this or that" but let's face it, if we respect someone, it can be hard to stand up to them.

The best thing you can do is find out when they will catch up that $4 grand, and if they make good on it, fine but if not, then yeah maybe seek an attorney.

Here is the thing - attorneys are assholes and have NO problems standing up to anyone, so that way you can get your pay and let someone else fight dirty.

There are people in life who will piss down your back and tell you it is raining. These people are typically REAL good at pouring on the charm, with a charisma that most people just do not have.

So if they don't make good, just call around attorneys and ask if they offer free consultation. What will happen is you will explain your situation, and they can tell you if you would have a case. Maybe that company can pay his fees as well, or how much he would collect from your winnings.

i completely agree. maybe it is all talk and they just wanted to get me for free labor. i'm trying to land another retail job which will mean a pay cut. but hey at least pay will be on time right? and i won't have to get a lawyer, i should be able to get money from them weekly.... i think?

Rust.... it IS scary here. union is cycling people through the books and for us non union if you can find work... be careful, theyre rotating out senior employees and bringing in cheaper workers with little experience.
