They always have detailed instructions on how to flash. Any questions just check out the FAQ and wiki, there's a TON of info and you should never have to make a post to gain knowledge on how to flash it. Here's the obstructions: Linksys E3000 - DD-WRT Wiki
my ISP forced me to use their router.........
Now i'm at the mercy of the garbage they make me pay for.
You could just give it the same settings. Just change the host name of the new router to the same one, set the mtu, and anything else and it will work. Unless they just registered the mac, then all you have to do is set the new router to clone that mac LOL. It's impossible for them to lock you down to the one they gave you. IMPOSSIBLE. Unless you have a modem/router combo like my DSL modem, then you're ****ed.
You CAN use them as strictly modems. It varies from model to model though, so you'd have to do a little more research into the topic.
I just dont see the point considering it'd just add latency.
ya i found the info thanks! and as of right now i'm not broadcasting my SSID untill i get home to reconfig the router with the new firmware. but i'm still throwing linux back on this beesch to **** with the guy back
Confusingboat do you have a patch panel you've wired into or just putting RJ-45 plugs on everything and having all your ports live ?
I've been wanting to do this myself. I'd at least like to get an Ethernet port in all the bedrooms.
I have all the rooms coming down to patch panels in the basement and I have 2ft cat6 patch cables going from the patch panels to my DGS-1224T.
3w is nothing in the grand scheme of your electric bill. And what does the modem do slower? If it's the wifi, just disable it and attach a wireless router as an access point and you'll be golden.
There's no such thing as a punch down switch........if you're running strictly patch panels and have no actual switch or hub (there's a huge difference) then you did it all wrong. No two ports should be directly connected to each other.
And wifi is only irritating if you don't set it up the right way. I have no problems with any of the WLANs at my house (yeah I have like 5).
new plan, finally put a router in the basement so we can have the other devices wired instead of wireless.
Your switch is B\A ! What brand of patch panel are you running ?
Actually confusing boat but... either way lolz. I looked up his Switch its pretty cool!
Thinking about calling this ol' boy up and buying this to do some more cabling in my house. http://topeka.craigslist.org/mat/2165982777.html
I need to buy some wire fish-sticks though.
