You never really think about it until it hits close to home, i knew her and it's just tradgic. I hope the people that bullied her feel horrible and see how their actions affect others.
I'm hoping to see something done about this.
    Thoughts, Stories, Opinions, ect.

Thats why kids need to learn to stand up to themselves. Its a ****ty situation and I was bullied alot by my so called "friend" who was really a giant jackass my whole middle school career. Then I got meaner, (not saying i picked on people, but that i faught back.) He threatened to kick my ass and i told him hey you may win the fight but i can garuntee you arent walking away untouched. So when people pick on me now or try (in high school) i either A) slug them hard, or B) Walk away.

i had a kid who would chase me home bla bla bla, so when i was 17 and he was 21, i beat the living crap out of him, split the bridge of his nose ( busted it good bleed like a rocky movie fight seen) and made the left side of his face look like chop meat ala looping overhand right after right. he never got a shot off, growth spurts are f' ing great, and all bullys should get their day. this prick never even looked at me again!

this is the stress-less educational system. kids instead of worrying about school worry about their peers.

    fixed your links.

its a shame that people cant deal with ridicule anymore. back in the good 'ol days they'd just kick your ass for fun, not make fun of you.

People are more brave behind a screen, and often forget they have to face these same people in real life. This whole FB and myspace crap just makes it worse for teens today.

I think with this rash of latest suicides, if the victims had specific people giving them hell, it is a shame they didn't get a little retribution before offing themselves.

    damn... that's messed up.
it's ridiculous that somebody can't respect the rights of other people. if you can't be around a certain person, then remove yourself from the situation rather than making somebody else's life a living hell. if suicide becomes an option, it's not the fault of the person being picked on. even if she had turned around and smacked some ***** in the mouth, she woulda got suspended and all kinds of other sh!t. she couldn't win, didn't even stand a chance...

That's awful. I was bullied in grade school pretty badly esp. in football as i was 4'10 140 lbs. It was pretty bad but i never resulted to death. But kids didn't have cell phones in the late 90's and most of us didn't have the internet or our own pc.

I work in the IT field but i tend to believe that the internet \ facebook and cellphones for young kids and teens tend to make things worse. If I ever have kids they aren't having either until HS. I didn't even have a Cell Phone until my freshman year in college in 2003.

Kids are mean period. They become little trolls behind their phones and computer screens because they are not man\woman enough to say\do these things to the persons face\ or in their presence.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. It sucks that she couldn't cope and the parent's \ school staff let it go this far.

Something that is NOT new is this, Bravery goes -
    Most brave in writing.
    Somewhat on the phone.
    Least brave in person.

With the girl who killed herself, if she had punched some *****, yes she would have been in trouble but the bullying would have decreased or probably stopped. Bullies want an easy target, not someone who is going to fight back, especially in person.

The kids who contributed to it, they may not feel bad now or may be able to blame others saying "it is not like I was the only one doing it" but there will come a day when they get to look back and realise they are partially responsible.
Let us hope they are rudely reminded of this fact NOW so they can enjoy their guilt in the future.
We have all heard grown-ups say, "there was some kid we picked on in N'th grade... ...I feel bad about it now."

Well for bullies that is easy to say but for those who receive it, life sucks.
Typically bullies are the ones crying the most when someone does something wrong to them cause they cannot handle it. Bullies get away with their crap for years but when it hits them in the ass, they cry.

Call me old or calluosed, but I don't see being picked on, bullied or even beaten down a few times as a reason to take my own life.

There is far too much PC and other silliness these days that makes our kids think a name calling etc is a reason to off themselves. That's BS, if her feelings were hurt that badly she had other avenues to pursue and consider.

In modern society most people don't accept responsibility for their own actions. If and when the **** ever hits the fan, those are the sheep that will be dead because 911 or singing a song didn't cure the problem.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Just wonder if these kids know this is real life and there is no reset button on life. Would they do it if they truly realized how permanent their choice was?
