See if it was a home port and you didn't take much off, i'd agree with benji, not really required but it will cause you to right slightly lean.
But a reptile is kinda almost completely hogged out around the maf hump.

I hope someone that actually tunes steps in and corrects you since you don't believe me. Stock= 69 mm ported maybe 72 mm. Unless you have actually tuned these cars I don't think you have any position on giving advice. But if you think putting a ported stock tb on these cars will cause it to go lean and blow up well... so be it.
Ever look at what people touch when they port these TB's?
Its not the throttle plate area, its the MAF hump.
I'm not saying that will happen, and it probably never will.
Can cause unwanted KR if your tune was on the ragged edge.
If not, you're still probably safe.
But you're also probably nowhere near the mod level where a TB is a restriction. Most who are either tune or have someone who does it for them.
In the world where the TB and the MAF are housed separately, yes, you can change to any TB you want and your MAF tune wont change.
But here the only thing thats changing is the crossection where the MAF is held.

Like matt said a reptile port isnt just a simple home job, I have a ported/polished Gen5 SC that reptile did the work on also. Will it blow up maybe, will it run just fine with a ported TB maybe, A ton of people on here have had problems with ported TB's. If you really want to get technical I suppose you could say a good tune is a great idea for a bone stock engine if you want to go that route.
on ur first one i understand that i was just saying what have
the second one the topswap was just an idea becase after my first day on this site that was what everyone talked about for improveing l36 and seen a good deal on most of the parts for a topswap .I got it and when it got here I kinda realize I was in over my head. For the turbo idea, im trying to find a car that i can work on and not worry about needing drive it the next day. Thats my only problem with doing them.
3rd i found a guy using a turbo off zzp runing a higher boost with the hv3
at last 4th if you read that mess i wrote early,I said that tracking number would solve this early on and this tread would have never started I havent seen it and he claims he hasnt seen it thats the problem. If someone would tell me how end this thing i would this has gone much further than any thing i wanted. I still wish that airbox would show up somewhere
2nd If your now planning on going turbo do you have any idea how much more involved that is going to be? Including certinaly a tune for a Turbo car! Their is a bug difference cost wise between a top swap and a turbo all said and done!
3rd I didnt say it couldnt be done however still a waste IMO if your putting a turbo kit on it why put something in the way? Kind of like like breathing through a straw. Id like to see his dyno numbers with the HV3 vs. without. Still money for something that isnt needed IMO unless you alread had the part.
4th not picking sides think you both are to blame.
Id just put it this way ported TBs have caused problems before. I wouldnt even bother unless I could tune for it like matt was saying because of MAF readings lean/rich fuel conditions ect ect. Just do it right the 1st time and get it tuned. Id rather have a car that ran well over a 400plus HP car that ran like ****.
Also I wouldnt trust everything on the ZZP website. Kind of like well you can just slap this or that on and it will work, sure but how well? From a business point of view its more like get this youll need this and this and this in order for it to "work" properly if you understand what Im trying to point out.
So let me get this straight you want 1 SC car and 1 turbo car?? Man I hope you have deep pockets. And Id rather have neither for a bone stock used WRX STI for the same amout of money or less by the time your done.
STI Limited :th_drooling:
Top swap cars arent fast at all for the work you put into them if all you do is the swap.
1st part i understand about to go measure it
2nd yea ur right there to everyone is in it for money
3rd is there any good people to do programing out there if it is widen 4th anyone know what 69 mm would be in inch down to the thousand
and no to ur last post one supercharged one and one a little quick natural l36 that i can drive daily
3rd I have no idea what your talking about MM wise. Reptile and a few others do tunes.
4th Why not just stick on a gen5 SC like I plan on and get a cam? For a DD no reason to have 2 cars unless ones broke. You can DD a gen5 SC car with a big cam so long as its done right and dont take any shortcuts. Chances are your getting real close to the limit of these transmissions too.
The reason for two cars is gas a camed and supercharged would suck gas and drive a good 50 miles most days
I don't see any talks about clearing this mess up....what's next?
ur right what do you think i should do
any one can cut in
dont want this guy to be double crossed in this mess
because i truly dont know if he tryed to cheat me or it just got lost in the mail
and im going to pm reptile about the tb
get the hell out of these guys thread talking about ****ing throttle bodies and tuning. my god sometimes you people are clearly mentally ill.
Hi nick! :th_newbie:
