So, I'm brand new here and I thought I could do some research on fixing or replacing my MAF, and getting that STUPID light to go off before testing.

I found what I needed, proceeded to clean the sensor, disconnected the battery for a bit, and drove irregularly in order to make sure the car could not run diagnostics. I got all the way to the testing center without the light coming on, pulled into the garage, and *click* the light pops on. Figures.

Since I'm completely new at anything involving cars, I was pretty proud of myself for managing to do all that work by myself and then utterly let down by my car's lack of respect for my ego.

    Just needed to rant.

if its indeed a MAF code... get some MAF cleaner from any parts store... get the security torx bit that fits the screws. and spray the filament inside of MAF... dont touch it with anything. just spray it.. then get code cleared at autozone. or disconnect battery for 30 minutes and will clear also.

I removed the MAF and cleaned it with MAF sensor cleaner, disconnected the battery for about 20 min and the light did not come on after I came home, so I HOPE that it does not come on tomorrow morning when I try again. Thank you for the help.

Btw, corey, I am in the west valley in phoenix.

they told me the same thing, that they couldnt do it cuz they cleared a code for someone and they took it to a shop and couldnt read the code... so autozone had to pay for gas for them to drive around til the light came back on.... retarded.. they let me clear it with their scanner though.

To wrap it up, I went to a local scrap yard and picked a new MAF sensor and so far the light has not come back on. So I decided to return to the dreaded emissions testing center, and guess what? My OBD is not even 'ready' after a week. Well, crap. Just have to hope that it will be tomorrow....

Night, all; and thank you for all the advice.

And, BTW, if you go to autozone, it helps if you have breasts. Since I own a set of my own, clearing codes is as easy as batting my eyes.
