I've seen cops sit in spots where people like to speed.
If you slow down, they let you go, if you keep speeding then you're gonna get boned.
Think of it as "inducing fear".

"Oh man there goes somebody following the speed limit and obeying the law, OH NOEZ he has window tint, and there goes somebody speeding, who do I pull over? Who is the bigger risk to other peoples lives?"
I'm fine with getting a ticket for window tints. I understand that it's illegal. I'm not fine with a cop going out of his way to pull me over JUST for window tints. I can understand if I did something else like turning on red, or speeding, or running a stop sign, then it's fine if I get pulled over for those things and get issued a ticket for the tints also, not just get pulled over for window tints when your not doing anything harmful.. that's what I hate.
Well coming from a Police Officer's perspective, when darker window tint is involved a lot of times it is harder for the officer to see inside the vehicle. That immediately puts the officer on the defensive in most cases, ie gun drawn, calling for backup (where you have 2 or 3 cruisers) wasting their time cause of the original officer could not see into the vehicle.
Then people get all bent out of shape asking why the officer had his gun drawn or why there are so many other officers here for just little ole me? Well the simple fact is for Officer Safety! First and foremost. There have been many documented cases of Police Officers being shot from cars with dark tint cause the officer could not make out what was going on inside the car, and instead of taking precautions approaches the vehicle and the worst case senario happens.
Its one thing in broad dailylight where it is a little easier to see into the car, but at night, its a whole different story.
I hope that clears it up for ya :)

I completely agree with the safety part. Hell I would be scared to approach a tinted car without taking precautions. What I'm saying though is why if somebody is obeying the law and not doing anything illegal, they have to be pulled over JUST for window tint. I mean to waste your time pulling somebody over just for how dark your windows are and no reason else at all seems to be a waste of time IMO. There could be other more dangerous crimes happening but the police officer is more concerned with the darkness of your window? I mean I see why it's illegal.. I just don't see why somebody needs to get pulled over JUST for that reason.. No harm is being done. But of course when the person is pulled over, I can understand a cop taking full caution as approaching the vehicle.
Re: COPS and there crookedness
so how does this make the cop crooked? you got a ticket, by the same cop. welcome to the club. persoanlly that gives the pig a right to pull you over. he knows uve broken the law before. id do the same thing.
crooked is when the cops buy/sell or tolerate drugs, violence and crime. he was doing his job by snooping around. atleast you dont have a cop or cops that are bought out by individuals not on the payroll. small towns are a pain. id rather have a cop in my neighborhood keep the peace rather than not do jack sh*t.
and troopers are more laid back than the county bounties or city pigs. imo i guess.
Re: COPS and there crookedness
Im still having a hard time understanding why you stopped.

Okay... when you're on patrol, there really isn't much going on at least around here.
If the street is bright enough to be able to tell the tint is too dark then no ones going to do anything stupid on it.
Unless they're REALLY retarded....
Re: COPS and there crookedness
matt's point about cops needing to see if someone's pointing a gun at them is valid. that's what i went off of. but if he didn't pull you over, should he be worried someone is going to shoot them? Make tint a secondary offense, not something you can be pulled over for, but something they can tack an extra fee on when they pull you over for speeding

^ This is what I'm talking about.
Re: COPS and there crookedness
My g/f was driving my car last night, and we got stopped for my tint. This cop tells me it is not about the safety of the cop being able to see in, it is because the film on the window does not let the glass break properly and then it can harm you. BUT I asked him why it is only important for the driver and front passenger to be safe from the glass..... when usually it is children in the back seat, and tint on back windows is ok???? so if the glass breaks and cuts the crap out of somebody in the back seat, it is ok, as long as it doesent harm the driver, or front passenger????

he lied because he thought you guys were stupid and most people only think of themsevles so by that logic, being afraid of being cut would make them not want it.
That cop lied. :th_jester:
Re: COPS and there crookedness
ya, I have heard plenty of excuses.... I just thought this one was funny
Re: COPS and there crookedness
Dont break the law and you wont have a problem. God forbid a cop does his job.
Re: COPS and there crookedness
BBPTECH.... I've got family members that r cops.. and u r 100% right. they r frigging ignorant, power trippin azzwipes. the truth is, they think it's cool to carry a gun and a badge thats made of tin foil and spray painted gold. what's funny is in my hometown, ware, ma, cops get their asses kicked on and off the job and still act unprofessionally. convoluted situation.

also that cop flat out lied. Window tint will actually hold the window together if it breaks, like safety lamination. That's why security companies use safety tint on their vehicles, it keeps glass from shattering.

Agreed!
Re: COPS and there crookedness
You guys gotta figure you're running around in a lowered, rimmed out tinted GP, which makes you easy bait for a cop to pull you over. They are assuming you're a young guy, and if you have money to pimp your car out you have fine money as well. Cops see you and any stocker family sedan break the same law and you're getting pulled over 9 times out of 10.
When I was 16 I drove my Bonneville like a manic it was invisible to cops.
