Re: Whats wrong with cops?
I got 20% now, had 10 on my suburban i get pulled over once a month or so for it. got one ticket in the suburban. and then went to the eye doc and said the sun gives me a migraines and i got a prescription for window tint. it allows me to put down to 10% all the way around and 35% on the windshield .. i have not gotten around to having the windshield done but when ever i get pulled over i show them and on my way i go.. some times they dont even ask to see proof of insurance after seeing the prescription

Ha yeah that is a problem. when i renew my license itll go on there and show up as like a restriction and it was my understanding it will show up when they run my plates
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
There is a town close by where I used to go to school and the cops are terrible. When I switched high schools, we were going through the other town at 1 in the morning, in a school bus going to after prom. There is a stoplight that is confusing as hell and the bus driver slowed down at a red light to turn, but didn't stop. Now, I understand that you have to stop, but a school bus at 1 in the morning? really?
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
my doctor wrote a letter about my eye sensivity to light. I have had super sensitive eyes to light my whole life. heck, when i go to the dentist, they have a special note on my profile to let me wear sunglasses when they work on my teeth. I called the State Highway Patrol about the prescription sticker for window tint, and they said the letter has to state you have a certain medical condition like Lupus or something and it has to state what specific % window tint. Mine didnt say that, so i just paid the stupid ticket and attached the letter with the payment. I have a copy of the letter in my glovebox so i can show the next d-bag cop that pulls me over.

I have 35% in front and there is a big difference from stock.
you are crazy. if your back windows are 5-10% then yes you would see a difference with 35% in the front because the back makes the fronts look darker.
and as far as how stupid i think tint tickets are, i think if you have no criminal background, you can get it as dark as you want. It gives privacy, keeps the car cooler in summer, prevents plastic warping, protects against UV rays, protects your investment, prevents ppl blinding you with their headlights, and gives a nice look to the car. It is legal in states like Texas, because of how hot it gets down there. I think it gets pretty damn hot here in STL....but yet again, its got the highest crime rate in the US. Revert back to what i said about criminal background history, and problem solved. give window tint shops the capability to run background checks before getting window tint, or have it to where you have to get a background check from the police department and then bring a copy to the tint shop. problem solved. just think of all the revenue the law departments would make doing $10 background checks for everyone wanting window tint.
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
I see where you are going with this, but that will just make our cars with tint EVEN more likley to be stolen, because a criminal cant get window tint on his car... And the cops are still gunna pull you over and waste your time, just to see if you are a criminal or not. But at least we wouldent get the ticket...
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
Mine says that i get migraines from the light and states that i am allowed to go to 10% all the way around and 35% on the windshield but it dont say i have any certain medical condition tho. But when I called to see if there was a way that I could have it so it would show up when they run my plates the license place said they can put it on my drivers license as a restriction. Oh and my prescription also states in fine print that that if i ever get any sort of violent charge, Felony or a weapons charge the prescription will be revoked
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
Yeah that was my mine thing not getting the ticket. where i live they harass every one with tint just because there bored
Re: Whats wrong with cops?

Re: Whats wrong with cops?

Maybe some places, here I've been pulled over for my tail lights a few times.. they check me out and all, and let me off.. no tickets.. if they were after the $$$ they'd give me a ticket I think.
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
Face it boys and girls....society is dying and it's going fascist. When you can get pulled over for nothing, doesn't that fall under the old "search and seizure" thing? The Nazis were pretty good at that 70 years ago. (but they had an excuse too).
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
My g/f was driving my car last night, and we got pulled over and I got a tint ticket. Sucks but whatever, the part I dont understand is that last time I got a tint ticket it was $115, this time it was $57??? So the first cop was just an @-hole trying to make his quota for the month??
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
did you go tp the same court to pay it? my first tint ticket was $69 but i wen to a different court to pay the second one and it was $81

Most people are already ****ed so to say its "dieing" is a false statement.:th_thumbsup-wink:
Re: Whats wrong with cops?
I'd be on the lookout for more stuff like this happening. Being pulled over for stupid reasons. With all the budget deficits going on in all levels of govt, they are looking to make money anyway they can. Why give them your money? Just get rid of it.

IF YOU HAVE WINDOW TINT ROLL ALL YOUR WINDOWS DOWN EVEN IF ITS MINUS 10 DEGREES OUTSIDE. DRIVER PLACED BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL 10 AND 2 O'CLOCK. HAVE ALL OCCUPANTS NOT MOVE AROUND. ON THAT OFFICERS APPROACH BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL. THEN DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD! LET THE OFFICER KNOW WHERE YOU ARE REACHING AND FOR WHAT YOU ARE REACHING FOR. IF YOU BELEIVE YOU WERE PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING YOU CAN RESPOND, "OFFICER, AM SORRY, BUT WAS I GOING ALITTLE TO FAST, OR OK, AM VERY SORRY FOR THAT". BE APOLOGETIC, AND DONT STOP SAYING ENOUGH YES SIR, NO SIR. COPS RECOGNIZED ALL OF THIS BY OPERATORS, BECAUSE IT IS WHAT THEY LOOK FOR SO MAKE THEM COMFORTABLE. remember you have some control OF THE OUTCOME, but the cop would have the ultimate decision whether you get a ticket or not. if you do get a ticket, take it, still be respectful and once again apoligize. especially if its your neighborhood police dept or where you oftenly travel. they would remember your flashy grand prix before they remember you again! they would more likely bypass you the next time or let you off with a warning!
That's good advice, right there. Most importantly, be sure you do nothing to make the officer feel uncomfortable. Dome light on at night is a good idea, too. These things are especially important if you're carrying a loaded firearm or if someone with you is doing so.:th_thumbsup-wink:

Not a wise decision. If they nail you again and discover you committed perjury, you'll have bigger problems than tint laws.

Stock tint in GXP is pretty dark. I got another car tinted and don't like it, too dark.

It's a standard set by statute by the legislature.
The only way to fight it is deal with the legislators who write the tint laws.
There are two reasons for these statutes: Extra dark windows are like wearing sunglasses while driving at night. Serious reduction in visibility. That is a legitimate safety issue, for the subject vehicle and all others on the road.
Those laws came about before the more recent tint laws regarding gangstaz, who along with other ne'er-do-wells pose a real threat to cops and civilians alike because of what they do and why they hide what they do.
