So I'm sitting at my brothers having a beer. A buddy of mine calls me drunk out of his mind at a bar in town. Knowing he's drunk, I tell him to wait there and I will come and pick him up so he doesn't have to drive and end up killing someone or at least get a DUI. I drive into town (15miles) to get him, coax him out of the bar and to almost get him into my car. What does he do? He says, "g-d'it I'm fine to drive" and jogs over to his truck. Before I realize what happened, he is in his truck and takes off. ? I didn't know what to do. So, I drive around trying to find him. No luck. About 5 minutes ago, he sends me a text that says..... "Home. Bed. Sorry." Dumbass is lucky he didn't kill someone. I shoulda called up one of my buddies at the PD and had him pulled over and taken home, but I wasn't thinking that at the time. I'm done venting.

It takes 1-2 times busted for them to learn this. My buddy would hide his keys from himself and park his car around the block before he went into blackout mode.

He's been busted twice! The next one is a felony with a lot of jail time and many years of lost license. I didn't want to get him in trouble thats why I didn't say anything. But then again, if he woulda killed anyone driving home (30 miles from the bar!), and I was right there and did nothing, the blood would be on my hands in my own mind. He was drunk enough that he didn't have a clue what he was doing.

If only the drunks hit nothing but trees, in reallity its usualy the sober people that the drunk hits that gets messed up. To many times the drunk walks away wile the people they hit don't, if it was me I'd turned him in. Sounds like he needs a good long lesn to wake him up. In my opion if you get 1, count it 1 DUI it should be kiss that license good by forever. At the very lest punishment sould be equal to the injureis caused EX: the drunk gets the same injureis as the people they injured.

touch situation u were in. I learnt the hard way when I was 19. NO one including me was injured but the car was a write off and I vowed not to do that again. what I would have done, tried anyway, was take his keys off him before taking him out of the bar that way when he ran to his truck nothing to drive with. Then slap him around a bit till u could get him in ur car. IDK tough to say but lukily he did not do anything to anyone

it is sad especially when the drunk walks away without a scratch did a paper on that in highschool they say its becuase of the "relaxed and delayed" state they dont flinch or brace themselves so they evade injury. its when you flinch or brace is when you get hurt, its really sad and wrong. i had a friend he would tell his drunk driving friend when to turn stop or go by telling him the signs from a PS2 controller. that is really scary

    O holy jeez... thats crazy...

IF you had a friend at the PD I woulda called him, most likely he woulda understood and coulda simply stopped him and held him til you got there and it would have worked out fine. but if not i can understand the pull in both ways. Its really a catch-22 on either side of the arguement and it really comes down to which one you can live with more. A friend in jail or a life/many lives saved. All in all best thing is to is take the keys first and then take him home in HIS car, that way if turns for the worse, its HIS car thats got puke in or all over it. Then go back to get yours and hide the keys... and when he wakes up tell him he must have walked home and dreamt the whole thing.

    Ha theres no point really.

Insurance becomes so outrageous after one DUI that it becomes difficult to even drive an econobox for most people.
