I had a customer today wanting their brakes looked at. The thought they only needed front pads, but it turned out their brakes were grinding for like 2 months and the rotor was metal on metal. The lady was a butch d*** and said she wanted the rotors turned even though the were below specs. So I wouldn't replace it I was gonna throw it back together for her to take it somewhere else where they don't follow map guidelines. She decided to splurge for the rotor and said she would never go to my place of employment again. Seriously we had to mic the rotor 8 times to satisfy you and let you examine the tool who the F$%^ needs you...

Years ago this happened... all I did was took the rotor off and took it to the sales counter... set it next to a new one... it took a half hour before the guy (Yes it was a guy) could tell the difference between the two....

Side note the manager didnt like that I did that... even thought the guy bought 4 new rotors... yes all 4... he owned the car for ten years never once looked intothe breaks... still woundering how they lasted that long with the mileage the car had...

^^once at western auto(years ago) gave lady a quote of somewhere over $500 for real. the car was beat to hell and worth maybe $500 at most. 1 rotor was missing the back of the surface., so on the backside it was the vents only, caliper piston almost all the way out.......some folks!

My brother has an autotech class so he has a garage with hoists where we took our new Tahoe in to get it's front and rear pads changed. His teacher likes to supervise everything even though my brother is probably the most enthusiastic about cars in that class.. We had the new pads and proceeded to hoist the car up, which we had to wait 15 minutes to get his attention to make sure the lift points were correct...

anyways.. We proceed to take the wheels off, and let me tell you, those chrome 20's that come as premium wheels on the Tahoe are HEAVY. So we undo the caliper and everything. We are ready to put the new pads in and he tells us to mic the rotors to check there depth. We tell him the rotors are fine and don't even feel used and look brand new. He went on to tell us that the Tahoe can't have it's pad's replaced unless we replace the rotors, that is if they were bad. We had only bought the pads and didn't have the cash on us to buy rotors so me and my brother are getting mad..

We checked the rotors twice and had to wait for his teacher to check them too only for him to tell us "Oh I guess they are brand new"...

Took a 30 minute job and turned it into a 2 hour job...
