Ya, thats right! Thanks to a big ass freaking hole my engine is flooded! So I was taking my daughter to school we go the same way EVERYDAY!! I take this path 2 sometimes 3 times a day! Well it started raining last night around 11ish and has been on and off all day. I go to take her this morning and of course like most people I try to avoid big puddles of water. Well I couldn't due to a car coming the other way...sooo I hit a "puddle" and drove maybe a block before my car started to bog down and then just died! Got it towed and looked at so far and well my FWI sucked up ALOT of water he pulled my plugs and there was water all in them! Its throwing SO many codes! Im glad I didn't get my heads and IC on yet! But so much for the mods now! He tried to crank the motor over by hand and couldn't So I don't know! I will know more about everything as the day goes by Me and my mom took her truck back to the hole and looked and from doing some measurements the hole is about a foot deep! I new once I hit it I was going to be screwed! But I have contacted our great city and told them!

That is just some serious bad luck. Well not even i suppose. I think about those puddles just like you, i always avoid them on the driver side cause of the fwi. But what I figured would happened if you hit a huge wash out having a FWI would happen, did happen. That sucks

I have no clue! Im also wondering if my insurance would pay for it. Not only did it mess my motor up but it also messed my front bumper up! I was lucky both my tires didn't go in it! I would have been stuck prolly!

It wouldn't have been so bad if the hole wasent over a foot deep! And of course when I got in it I had to give it more gas to get out... He seems to believe it can all be dried and re-lubed. Once it died I didn't try to turn it back over. He was going to remove the heads and look more into the motor to make sure. But if it can't be fixed how much does a 3.8 run? The motor I have in it now has 52K on it.

At least you don't have to deal with speed mountains. Its hilarious watching every second car scrape their bumper on them or bottom out.

I don't see any reason to have to pull the heads off. Or even the LIM. Just pull the plugs and turn the engine over by hand (remove the belts to help). When most of the water is out, put in new plugs, new air filter, and see if it starts. For the little water it ingested, there is really no reason to go through the trouble to pull the heads.

Thats what he did...it didn't turn over! So he is dropping the oil and tranny pan and removing the heads to look inside of it. I don't know much about motors but I do know water isn't good for them! And it wasent just "little" water! My FWI was ALL the way under water and I had to gas it to get out of the hole! The hole was so deep it got into my foglight!

I thought you said it was only a foot deep.

But just seems like more work than what it's worth. If you are seriously worried about the integrity of the engine and getting water in it. Why have him tear the entire thing down? Just buy a replacement engine for $1k and have it replaced. Just seems like you are going to spend loads of money in paying for the time to remove the oil pan, tranny pan, intake, plugs, heads, etc, etc.

But really, I have had engine get water in them before when driving. And even a 3800 shut off because it ingested water. We did what I said with the plugs and getting it dried out and didn't have any issues afterwards.

But if the engine doesn't even turn over by hand with the plugs out, then either something is majorly messed up, or the mechanic should be fired. Hmm...

Well when I hit the hole my front bumper slammed into the road! If my other tire would have got into it I doubt I could have made it out!! And the guy working on it is a family friend. He owns a shop and a tow truck so I know he is not trying to screw me out of something. And he was worried about the fact he couldn't turn it over with his hand.

My engine with the heads off, I couldn't turn over with my hands. Get a socket and ratchet on there and it should more pretty freely.

And I am not saying he is trying to screw you over. Just that I would go about it in a different way. And I hope it doesn't end up costing you a lot more money than it should in the long run. Just lookin out for ya
