I have a 1998 GT white with white wheels. I know in the previous body style that was considered a special edition. Is the 98 a special edition as well?

no, an SE of the 97+ category is the complete lowest base level.

I've seen white ones that are special editions before 97. And plus mine is a GT not an SE.
