4th tranny, ouch....maybe not using reverse as the brake would fix that?

Go to a hobby store and get felt tape. Find the parts that are rubbing and put the felt tape in between the contact parts.

Yep, the plastic trim around the HUD makes a little noise, and the sunroof makes a little noise. Typical GM, my car only has 33K on it.

The noise with the hvac I noticed on mine and I think it is electronic. I noticed it the other day when I had my radio off. the blend doors get moved electronically vs manual and that is what u hear, the motors running moving the doors. That is what I think anyway, the noise sounds electonic to me. As for other noises I get a hollow noise from when the key fob hits the dash, other than that I guess the regular GM noises, they are not to great to bother me tho

actually i forgot that I do have alot of wind noise coming in the front dash. Looks at the trim that runs along the bottom of the windshield and its not mounted right, the wind is coming in the bottom corner of the windshield. gotta get that fixed

Am I the only one who can't complain about any interior noise? Mine doesn't really make any noise other than the wind going at highway speeds.

Although I do have a real quiet chatter that you can't hear over the radio

My white GTP has 170k on it and makes no noises and its smooth too. My GTP is as tight as my 15K mile TB SS as far as interior and wind noise goes.

For that matter my 150k black GTP has no noises either.

I think most of the problem is this people taking dash pieces off to install stereos or what not and they **** up the felt pieces on the contact points, reinstall the pieces and get a bunch of noise and ***** about it. I can just about bet thats 90% of the problems right there. $5 fix max with 0 effort....

I also think it is how the car gets driven. If a car gets hammered on everyday, pedla to the metal, "racing it" etc that contributes to noises. If something develops, maintanace wise or noise wise, I like to try and take car of it as soon as I can so it does not "multiply" into other noises. I firmly believe if a car is treated nice, no 1000watt sterio taking the dash apart all the time to do mods then it will likely not develope excesive noises. idk that is my opinion. nothing against a good stereo mind u but everything has an oposite reaction

Not only me.... My wifes mom has had nothing but good luck with hers. My dad has had no problems with his (its in the FS section, he just got a G8). My wife brother has had no problems with his either.... I don't see why anyone else has problems honestly. I still think alot of problems could never happen by good maintence.

Hell back in the day I drove the absolute **** out of my car. Street raced it every weekend, ran at the track often and I still hammer on it to this day though not as much. I always cleaned it and took care of the fluids. Never destroyed a tranny or a motor. Hell to this day at 170k it still has the original engine, 3 original wheel bearings, original CV joints, water pump, starter, heater core, AC works great never been charged and the list goes on and on. Hell my black car is about the same except I did put CVs in it.

I've always had luck with cars, I honestly think care and maintence is the key. My dad has had about 30 cars (mostly GM) and he never really had any problems with any of them. He takes care of a car like I do. Luck has nothing to do with it IMO.

Funny thing is, some of the guys I work with brag about there Hondas. Funny thing is they've had more break downs and repairs than I have and there less miles too. My car not only looks better and out performs theres, it gets almost as good of gas mileage, and need less work. And I play with it often too. I seem to always get the last laugh.

My parents have great luck with car, most notable is one of there cars they owned since 1977... its a 1973 'Cuda w/ 318 2-barrel/Auto and it has close to 500,000 miles. Original motor, heads have never been off. Maintence goes a long ways.

I preach maintence for a reason...

I do agree with you about a pounding stereo destorying the car, I still have my original radio because an aftermarket does nothing for me. But i've had my dash apart a dozen times without issues, I just make sure the felt is good an in place. If not replace it, its dirt cheap.

As for racing a car and hammering it, I can't agree with that because my car still has yet to show any signs..

well, iron I do agree maintnance is key, In my time I have seen new cars, 1 to 1.5 years old, blowing smoke out the ass end like there is no tomorow. As with racing, well, never done any of that, so don't have that experience. I have seen cars drive by and the stereo is making the driver deaf and the trunk ratles and the screws on the license plate come loose all the time, then they wonder why the car is falling apart lol. Anyway what I am saying is, treat a car well, maintain it proper, and no issues should come about. That is my experience. I remember someone telling me they NEVER change the oil, all they do is add oil when it is low, that way the oil thickens and sticks to the parts and prevents damage, lmao. I did not bother to correct his thinking as he was older than I and he knew what he was talking about ;-)
