So what your saying is that you just apply new thermal paste and expect that to be a good fix? You'll be doing that over and over again. Once you screw it all down after putting better paste on that thing is not going to overheat for a long time. It's about as close to pernament fix as you can get. Terrible Idea, don't do the stupid screw trick. It's a temporary fix, I know this because I mod xbox's (the legit way not so you can't go on live) and fixing RROD is easy as pie, take apart your box heat gun the paste and clean it all off (careful what you use) get some real thermal paste and apply gently.
PS. Having any game you want anytime is amazing, and so is having them before they come out
