Yea I'm the parts guy at the local GM Dealership, we still do the "recalls" for the 3800s, goes for all year ranges 97-03 according to service. They usually end up replacing the spark plug wire connectors, 2 connectors that "relocate where the wires sit" (completely ineffective) and the FRONT valve cover gasket, no grommets nore the back which tends to have the most problems (also ineffective).

DO IT YOURSELF! It takes a few hours with moderate tools and you can get both gaskets and all the grommets cheap. its worthwhile to just do it yourself and solve it.

    Spark Plug Retainers
    - GM# 12132229
    - GM# 88891792
    Valve Cover Gasket
    - GM# 24503937 (need 2)
    Valve Cover Grommets
    - GM# 25534749 (need 12)
