Call the police at that point. A good note for you business that you have now learned is that they turn over the keys when you get there and do not get them back until payment is made.

I know a guy that is a mobile locksmith, and a damn good one. he can be into a car very quickly. A guy called, locked out of his car in a parking lot. Vern went out and had it open in under a minute. The guy refused to pay the $50, since he did not feel that Vern spent enough time to get him into the car. Vern took the keys, tossed them in the driver seat, and locked the car back up. The guy called the police. Vern is a local guy, and knows just about everyone. The officer came out and put up with the arrogant little twit and his mouth. Once the guy shut up, the officer calmly looked at Vern and told him to unlock the car. The little twit must have been grinning from ear to ear. Vern popped the door again, in a matter of seconds, and retrieved the keys. The officer then calmly looked at the guy and told him to pay Vern...twice, since Vern had to do the job twice. Vern now makes it look like more work to avoid nonsense like that.

Yea in general I take the keys input info on the laptop and get situated and get to business but it was 3am and class starts at 7 plus i havent had much sleep so it was a misjudgement that wont happen again.

I mean today at school a guys honda died at the exit of one of the parking lots I asked if he needed help
Said his car just died so i checked a few things and found a blown ecm fuse swapped it with the hazard lights fuse and the kick kicked my 50 bucks for 5 minutes work.

Plus the way i charge is all flate rate if the job says it runs 1.5 hours and i finish in .5 It will still cost 1.5 hours thats my experiance coming through and at times ill cut someone a break but Ive worked to hard to gain my experiance to just give it away

Honestly I'd have followed the guy and called the police and told them what happened. I'd be pissed that I'm up at 3 in the morning helping someone and they give me $10 for my efforts.

See theres also the catch that im flying under the BAR radar and not exactly paying taxes on what i do Thats also why i dont charge any mark up on parts

85% of mechanics that i know may have regular jobs but all of there real income is side work untaxed and unlicensed

that's one of the reasons why a mechanic doesn't wan the customer hanging around while the work is done. Customers have no problem paying for work when they drop off the car and pick it up working well, if they realize how easy most stuff is, they might get on the internet, read up about their problem and fix it themselves.

Since lazy pays, there's no reason why you shouldn't be paid for your time, effort and experience.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
