Are you seriously asking why a $28K car can't keep up with a $54K car or a $91K car? I would think the answer would be obvious, completely different markets.

Reason why i compare is because they are the flagship cars of each brand, Ford is the Mustang, Dodge is the Viper, and Chevy is the Vette, you could argue that the Ford GT would be the match for those two, however in terms of being the Flagship vehicle the GT is not, the Mustang is,
So why can't Kia make the Amanti keep up with the Viper or Vette? It's their flagship, right? Or how about the Smart fortwo, it's their flagship.
Comparing across market segments makes no sense.
lets see....American Muscle....FORD: Mustang Chevy: VETTE Dodge: VIPER, the Vette was never the way it is now, in recent years we saw the Vette become a Super Car like the Viper, and we are comparing the Top 3 AMERICAN MUSCLE BRANDS, if you want to go into Imports then we can compare civics, maxima's and spectra's oh my, but were not, The new model of the Vette made the jump to Super Car Status, again YES Ford had the GT Super Car to compete, however why not use the Technology we have today, and Make the Mustang into a Contender for the Vette and Viper, you keep saying differnet markets, a F'in smart car is NOT american Muscle, and you know what im sure they could make a SmartCar so juiced up it could, but that is NOT their market their market is Economy style cars,
ford likes having their flagship car cheaper than that of dodge and chevy...also, the viper and vette are in supercar satus and the mustang is not...if ford were to make it an expensive supercar, they would need to replace the mustang with another new car to compete pricewise with the chevys and dodges in the mustangs present class

You're completely missing Scimmia's point. Your comparing flagship cars...so he did so too. The Viper and Corvette are targeted towards wealthy or retired people who still seek some thrills in life automobile wise and can't go as crazy as a Ferrari or Lamborghini. You can't just go thinking the Mustang is the best thing out there...because it isn't, and Ford doesn't either...which is why they hand it off to Saleen, Roush, or Shelby to work on it and make it as fast as a stock SS or SRT-8. If you're so gung-ho about the damned thing then sell the GP and get one so I don't have to hear how great Ford is in every thread. The Mustang is a entry level pony car...always has been...always will be. No changing it. Ford likes it there...although its lack of power and pitiful comparison to the Challenger/Charger and the 'Maro are funny...if you like it fine. It is a POS in my book. For the money you can get something way better...because everyone and their damn dog has a Rustang.
Exactly...keep your POS retro look crap and your high revving 4.6. Trash. End of story. Hence why Saleen and Roush can't throw more than 4psi at it without redoing the entire motor...I LOL at that. And if you try and counter that...4psi is what the NEW 2010 Roush 427 comes with. Weak. I can fart more than 4psi. Give me a '02 WS-6 6-spd and I'll pown not oly your turd of a GT, but I'll wax Roush's, Shelby's and whatever else...'03-'04 Cobra's too. That is why my buddy threw 10 grand into his '03 Cobra...he was tired of getting beat by stock or bolt-on LS1's.
But thats what im saying, im disapointed with the lack of power, throw something better in there, the 4.6 can handle more than 4 psi of boost, i have seen the original 4.6L's with 9-12 psi from an allan S/C, i understand the point of breeds and Supercar status, the Vette wasnt alwasy a super car, the mustang ISNT great, if you would just read what i say and how im pissed that ford doenst do anything else to the car, it is pittiful, my old car (tbird) with a few bolt ons exhaust, and a tune has RIPPED mustangs, 5.0,Cobras, Camaro's, one SS Impala, and my best kill my buddies 1971 Malibu Custom, 351 Racing engine, Racing trans, 373 gears, with my little 281 4.6L Its NOT the engine its how they are using the engine. and you wanna say Retro Crap, THEY PAVED THE WAY, Hell even CHEVY jumped in it for the new camaro, everyone seems to LOVE IT, whatever, i bleed ford blue so shoot me, get the angry torch weilding villagers and lynch me, i feel like the only ranger fan trying to talk basic hockey to a bunch of Islander fans,
Well...not trying to be a dick...but what do you expect preaching how great Ford is on a mast majority of GM fans?
Expect the same respect that i give GM, I Bleed ford Blue, and own a GM car, think GM cars are great cars, built to last, more so than fords, and im not preaching how great ford it, im saying ford needs to do something with itself comparing to Dodge and Chevy, the only ford i will preach was beyond great was my old car, it ate other cars alive, (not all but a good number), the 4.6L powerplant is a good motor, i dont know what ford did to it with the 3V in the mustang, maybe its not the motor maybe it is just the car it sits in, In my opinion, they should have just used a DOHC 24V version of the 4.6L or even the Cammer 5.0 DOHC, for the new mustang,

The more I think about Ford the more I think about people who buy them who pick up a magazine and think they know everything about cars, and the company knows this. People will buy a mustang because its a mustang, you put a 4 cyl. in one and they will still buy it for $23k. They are slower than **** except for a hint of genius that came out of the 03-04 cobras. Just go to the track someday and you'll find at least one mustang owner who will talk trash and make excuses but by the 3rd-4th time of getting his ass kicked by a average car or truck he will either make more excuses or shuts up.
Point in hand, the SHO's came out with a yamaha v6 engine, way ahead of their time for power and handling for a 4 door. In 1996 they bumped up the engine to a v8 yamaha but changed the intake design and a few other things because it made too much power for the tranny to handle, supposedly it was tested at 100hp more than the final design. Ford did this because they knew that they would sell that car still. Thats one of the reasons Ford is still going, they just make a name and can market it well. GM made a few badass cars that were not marketed well at all and a lot of money was spent on making the power.
