So my wife is driving to work today in the 95 taurus sho that I just bought 3 weeks ago, to keep my gtp parked during the week. She is stopped at a 4 way stoplight, waiting to make a left. Her left arrow turns green, a protected left. She starts turning and right when she is almost done turning a woman driving a pt cruiser from the opposite direction is turning right, and turns right into my wife. My wife was turning into the right lane of a 2 lane road, so this old woman gets out of the car and starts saying that its my wifes fault because she turned into the right lane, and of course my wife is like no *****, your light is red, you have to yield the right of way. The cops come and tell the lady she is wrong but these assholes wouldn't even write her a ticket much less file a police report, saying that the damage wasn't enough. So now the passenger front fender and front wheel need to be replaced.(and the door won't open) She is saying please please don't call my insurance(I met my wife there). I say ok give me a couple hours. So I look up the cost of the wheel and fender its like $480. I add in the price of paint and labor and I tell her alright give me $1000 today and I won't call. She goes ballistic, and starts screaming at me so I hung up on her and called her insurance.(I've been screwed around like this twice before, once when someone canceled their insurance so they wouldn't pay 2 days later when I called them) I just got the damn car and its in such good condition for a 95...eerrrrrrr

I'm glad your wife is OK and nobody was hurt. Your wife is required by law to turn into the nearest lane, but it's still probably the other lady's fault because she should have seen your wife's car and stopped before she hit her.

Good call on checking prices before agreeing not to get insurance involved. With the cost of parts plus paint and labor it's rarely less than the deductible unless it's just a scratch.

gotta love worthless police work also, when I got my license it was required that in a 2 car accident where fault is determined a ticket is issued. The cop is not a body estimator, and can't make that determination, plus most insurance companies want a report

I say: She figures out a way to pay. Either cash or insurance. Or, Burn her house down. I'm not crazy, just tired of people getting away with everything and yourself getting the shaft! This crackhead hit my father in law a couple of months ago. She had a Fake verification, but no real insurance. Within 3 hrs, I knew Everything about her! She has no idea I exist.

Oh, dont worry about that. Shes directionally challenged and it might take her a few months to actually follow directions to where you live. So as long as you know she's left heading your way, you got time.

Sucks about your SHO. I used to have one....body parts are expensive!!!!!!! good to know you got all here information!! Cops by law have to give a ticket. if there is damage to a vehicle! did they at least fill out a report? do you have their badge numbers? I would file a complaint.

hope things get better!!!! and if all else fails......sick GTPLuv on them. I sure things will go away really quick.

Man that blows. Back in the day we bought a brand new 96 Civic. A while down the road I paid off the loan. Not 2 months after paying off the loan, an out of state person hit the Civic and totalled it. The guy driving the car had an insurance card, that apparently had expired long ago. Even with police report we were never able to track him down. Fires me up just thinking about it. I hope the PT person has to pay. Good luck with it all.

well I was wrong, my wife turned into the left lane, the lady tried to pull in the right lane but pulled out too far, even more stupid than I thought. Well when I drove the car, I notice a knocking sound from the front passenger wheel when I make a left turn. I got her insurance to estimate the damage, and they estimate at $1125(good thing she didn't want to give me $1000 haha). Well I keep noticing the knocking(I told the estimator about it, she didn't seem to care but added a front end alignment to the estimate) Well I take my car to my friend's shop to put it on the lift, and the cv axle is loose inside the tranny, apparently when she hit the car she pushed my wheel back which pushed the axle back into the tranny. Her insurance won't re-estimate it, but say I have to get it fixed and they will pick up the bill IF they find her to be at fault, and if they think that this was caused by the wreck. Today my insurance co calls me....This dumb woman filed a claim against me. Well I got the cops badge # and name, I'm gonna file a complaint against him tomorrow, seeing as how my car has prolly over $3000 worth of damage. I filed a police report myself today, took a whole 10 minutes, lazy azz cop. Looks like I'm gonna have myself a totaled out sho, just cuz this lady couldnt wait for 2 seconds. I'm sure her insurance company will pay me at least the $1125, and I prolly can get the rest after a little hassle, but I want to get the rest of it without taking it to get fixed, hell, I was about to sell the car anyways, just decided I didn't want it right before this. You guys got any advice for me?

Very wrong. But they are required to take a report upon request, unless they are interrupted by a high-priority dispatch.

I hope you get paid, man. My Brother got screwed a while back like that. He was turning left from a yellow arrow, and a car ran the red light and hit him head-on.
Completely smashed his beautiful red 94 Dodge Spirit(along with all the mods on it). The cops didn't issue a ticket. Thing is, that department had just gotten smashed on the news for profiling, and she was black. Yah, you tell me(not a racist comment, comment about the cops)...anyway, both insurance companies determined it was the other driver's fault, and my brother didn't get a penny.

Insurance companies are slugs. they take there time, and very rarely shell out money he way they say they will. my insurance company is suing another for my accident 3 years ago which totaled out my passat. head on collision going 60....ldy turned in front of me... stat Farm gave me a check for my car in full the next day..while the other ladies insurance said the car was fixable...yet my car was completely twisted and nealy in half...hmmm

I would bring her down to the shop nd have your friend show them that you didnt cause this...it was the blunt force of the impact that did.

    good luck!!!!

I'm in texas....well the lady's insurance called me this morning and they determined that the lady is liable and they are covering my damage... so they say I have to take it to a mechanic and then they will see about paying the extra damage. WOOHOOO!!!! She still has a claimed filed against me so hopefully my insurance company will agree with me and deny her sorry azz!
