so when I bought the Chevy Cruze last year, the dealership said the first 4 oil changes would be on them, and the recommended interval was something like every 7500 miles. now that I have to pay for the changes, they are recommending every 3000 miles. I cant see any reason to change the oil that often since it is an synthetic blend. I was planning on something closer to every 5000 miles.

Are you surprised? Follow your owner's manual.

Start working on cars and you won't like to follow higher mileage oil changes.

My Audi manual says every 10K, horse poop!

There are lots of small oil passages and chain tensioners that run on oil pressure etc. If those clog..I am looking at a much costlier repair than if I do it every 5K myself and save over half of what an oil change place would charge.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

did you call em out on it ? i'd be curious to see how they would explain the need to cut the intervals in half after the first 4 changes.

Drive a Grand Prix, then you won't need to worry about breakdowns, and having to do repairs! You will still have to change oil, just use Amsoil full synthetic like I do. You can safely change the oil every 8000 miles or so

I use Royal Purple and change it every 12,000 miles. Use Wix oil filters and change it every 3k. Still going strong after 340,000 miles with no lubrication issues.

240k+ miles with Mobile 1 and change filter about 3-4k. Change oil when computer says or if the oil starts to look dark.
