simple, blow the tranny up have it towed in, if it cant move any more, they have to fix the tranny lol drain some fluid, burn it up good, top off the fluid and take it in, see it slips.......lol
and yes, dealers suck like that, charge you to look at it. its there time.
most shops will charge you as well if you dont have the repairs done there. ye old diagnosis fee.

I would hook up a scanner and see if there are any codes. If there are any codes dealing with the transmission it should make their diagnoses much easier.

They can hold the car if you refuse to pay. A diagnostic fee does not guarantee a diagnosis can be made. You are paying for their time. Every shop is going to charge a diagnostic fee, regardless of if they can find the issue. Some shops will tell you there is a diagnostic fee, and then they will waive the fee if they find and fix the issue.

These issues with 4T65Es are probably so common, the dealership techs believe this is normal behavior.

You need a higher end scanner to read transmission codes and if you shut off the vehicle sometimes codes will go away and they will just be a history code.

you should have done this first, ^^^^^ then taken it in, now its on record with clean fluid and no issues. kids dont listen. if you want a new one under warranty, kill this one first, then take it in. you did it backwards. you just bring it to them f ed up good. not a intermittent issueOriginally Posted by Scottydoggs
my 03 gmc truck started to slip in reverse and first gear, you had to stand on the brakes and floor it to make it happen. shop calls me back says its fine, i rip the guy a new asshole and tell him how to diag a slipping tranny, then told him, ill stop my day right now and be there in 20 minutes and ill melt the tranny right in front of them if they cant figure out the issue.
it took 3 trannys to get it right too, two rebuilds, then a gm crate tranny, and a crate t case and a rebuilt rear end, all with 45 miles left on the warranty.
moral of the story is, make sure its " broken" when they get it the first time.

ever hear of buyer brothers GMC in fairview? dont let them work on anything you own lol i got story's from hell. its bad when they know you by first name at the service counter right?

Why don't you make the appointment like a month from now and just beat on the tranny for a month to make sure they replace it. If you just took it in a few days/weeks ago and they checked and everything was "good" to them, wouldn't it seem fishy for them to check it again a few days later and its all of the sudden ****ed up?

I can't say I'd be posting on a forum about trying to kill a trans for warranty repair. Just me.

Best bet is to try to set it up so you give them the car when its at temp hot and having problems and they are able to drive it, hell tell them you'll take them for a ride since you can replicate the issue. They should work with you on that.

Go to Aamco Transmissions if you have one, they do free diagnosis for trannys. And I would think that they would be able to work with your warranty.

whenever the dealership says they can't duplicate the problem. Have the shop foreman test drive with you as you demonstrate the concern. If he is busy, stay at the service counter till he arrives. Wait them out. When you are test driving with the shop foreman...your vehicle is not on he flat rate clock. The foreman will have to either acknowledge a problem is present or say that is normal operation. If they say this is normal operation and you believe it is not, request a test drive in a similar vehicle (hard to do with a 10yo vehicle)
