The VW Vortex forum for the current jetta is useless.

You ask a question get 200 views on the thread. Half the answers are "Take it to the dealer" or people telling you your stupid for trying to do something.
They turn on each other like a pack of wolves.

    For example today:

I asked if anyone knew how to temporarily disable TC even if it ment disabling the ABS. as TC can keep you stuck etc

I got 2 responses out of 114 views.

the first was "I think disabling ABS might be opening a can of worms"

and the second answer the one that really irritated me was

"What happens when your temp solution to disable ABS works and gets you through a pile of snow, then you crest a hill and cant stop going downward?"

Because im too stupid to use the deep piled up snow on the side of the road to slow down.

Apparently that dumbass doesn't know that ABS doesn't help you stop in snow. In fact it can and does make you go further before stopping.

Hell the ABS doesnt work on my GTP, my monte carlo never had it, my Blazer didnt have it, the Van i learned to drive in didnt have it. I put all of those vehicles through snow (except the GTP)

The Forum is a bunch of know it all people who couldnt fix their car without a dealer if their lives depended on it.

These are the same people who said it was the US Governments fault that VW violated emissions standards because they were too strict.

Do those dumbasses know that VW is in trouble in Europe too over the emissions debacle?

I know what you are talking about though. I don't remember if I joined, or just searched when my cousin had his Jetta years ago looking for the solution to a no start situation, but they were as dumb as the Honda forums.

Things such as "My car cranks but won't start"

Answers such as "It's your starter", or "It's your battery", or "It's your alternator".....

I wanted to smash my head off the desk reading the responses.

If you criticize VW at all they jump on you. As far as i can tell its a bunch of kids whos parents bought them their first car.

My grand prix doesn't have ABS or TCS and I'm perfectly happy. Cars are moving away from needing a driver to drive them but I'm happy to be engaged in the act of driving my car.

Sounds like that VW spot is a useless forum.

It didn't used to be useless. When I was a mod on there years ago, it was actually a really helpful place. Unfortunately, VW crowds have gotten similar to the Honda crowd...which is why I quit being on there.

If you think the VW guys are rough around the edges.. try Audi. They are nice to each other, but there's maybe 5 people that have ever held a wrench.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thats about the level of the Jetta forum, the only people who know anything are VW mechanics and theyre so far up their own ass they think no one but a VW dealer can work on the cars

04lss: Is your VW a TDI? If so, I have a place for you.....
Lack of planning on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on my part.
