Sean, you gotta run a thermostat man. Even if it's not causing your overheat (which I believe it is), you're playing Russian Roulette with your pistons. A cracked piston is a serious b!tch compared to putting in a $4 thermostat. Throw in a 195, or 180 if you think you need it, and see what happens.

Yeah a little anyway. Not as good as somebody being run over by a truck but still better than what has been happening
