the chat box really does hog a ton of memory. i feel as though that is the reason the site is bogged down so much.

Or just make things simple and leave the chat off permanently. Nothing even remotely useful gets talked about on there.

But chat is fun. It doesn't have to be useful. If we go by that, we should remove the Free For All forum, since it typically doesn't relate to Grand Prix's. Then we should kick out all the members that don't own a Grand Prix, like Bio, one of the most helpful people around here.

Chat is pure and simple win.
