bypassing factory amp?

I own a 1997 gtp with the 8 speaker premium, non-bose system. So after a few weeks of messing around I recently replaced the door speakers for 6.5" pioneers and blaupunkt 6x9's in the rear, didn't touch the 4's. But, turns out there's no sound going to the 6x9's at all! My question is about the little amp/booster behind the glove box: does it power all speakers or just the 6x9's? Tried researching with no clear answer. I'm planning on putting in a aftermarket HU later, will I have to bypass the amp/booster anyways? If so I'd like to use the stock 6x9 wiring from the amp/booster to wire the aftermarket HU.

Just unhook the 4" and run the 6x9s you will never notice them not being hooked up.
And just FYI this has been asked quite a few times already. Just saying.

Unhook the 4s, the new 6x9 you got will be better than the stock 6x9 and 4s together.

See, i have been looking and have been unable to find an answer. I'm not concerned with unhooking the 4" speakers, I was just asking if I had to bypass the amp after hooking up an aftermarket HU. I've read that some people have but the majority of other people dont even mention it.
With this amp, I do believe the 6x9's receive a different signal than the 4" speakers, hence the reason for the low frequency factory amp.

Just unplug it! That's what I did to mine I had all kinds of sound problems with my alpine HU and 6x9s unplugged the factory amp problem solved

Thats exactly what i'm trying to do, complications aren't my thing! lol! I do want to unplug that amp, i was just wondering if it's only purpose was to power the 6x9's or if it powers all speakers. If it does all speakers, then that means running all speakers directly from the head unit.

No unplug it and all speakers will work just fine mine is unplugged and I did no wiring except the head unit install. Unplug it its under the glove box no problems all will work

the amp is primarley used to power the 6x9s...theyre used more for bass...just hook up an amp to ur 6x9s and leave the 4" plugged..call it a day. wrks fine for me.

Thanks, I'm gonna unplug that amp today and go from there, thanks everybody for the input. I am by nature an impatient person, mind me if I seem so, I don't mean to be rude.

So, unplugged the amp and nothing changed. All speakers still functioned the same except for the 6x9's. Phoned an audio shop that I was referred to and an installer there also told me that the little amp is only for the 6x9's. I inspected my amp and found that the board was severely corroded due to a leak that is apparently common from the firewall and shorts out these little bastards. So, now I just have to decode the wires and find out which ones run back to the 6x9's and wire them back up!
