hello peoples. i just purchased a 1998 grandprix gt and have had some issues with it. the one i have right now is misfire on #1. i changed around coil packs and same thing is going on, misfire on #1. i have noticed its not shifting right anymore either. it seems to be hitting rev limiter. if you put your foot to the floor, it will hold in the gear and not shift untill i let off the throttle. now i have another issue today and the engine is bogging. no revs over 3000 rpm. already put plugs, wires, crank sensor. please help

I agree with dan. Rev the engine and couple times and have someone look underneath the car after its been ran for a bit to see if the cat is alittle red.

You could also remove the o2 sensor on the rear exhaust manifold, run it and see if this fixes your problem. If it does the cats clogged.

Take the rear o2 out of the car and see if it runs better. If it does your cat is clogged up.

sounds like a fuel issue to me!! I just had the same problem with my car my fuel pump was a little bit louder than usual and i couldn't get it past 3k rpm when in gear. but in park it was fine and would bounce of the rev. limiter if i wanted... so i would check your fuel pressure

i took the cat out and it rattle like a bugger. its toast lol. took out 02 sensor and car ran fine. will check fuel pressure when i get a new cat. anyone know where to get one in calgary area that i dont have to cut my left nut off for a new one? i really dont know how the car ran with the cat melted up like that inside. how much plat and other good metal inside the cat is there. i cut it open and gutted it. can we weld it back up and use it that way or will the sensors pick up on it?

Your rear o2 won't work right but the car will run fine
