How to fix a Regal Century dim cluster or DIC

I have a 1998 Buick regal gs. The DIC doesn't light up anymore and more recently, the odometer was stuck in metric. I replaced the button assembly that controls the odometer, and it's still stuck in metric. Would this method of fixing the DIC possibly fix the odometer as well?

The dimness would get fixed by doing this resistor swap. The metric issue is likely a wire being grounded out. The button assembly either grounds or interupts ground to the cluster and hvac unit to turn them metric/US.

Don't have the schematic on me at themoment, but uh.. hmm I might have it handy though.
