its a possibility, but highly unlikely.
private parties have offerd to buy the brand and tooling, but GM wont let it go for the fact they couldnt have control over what product would be produced.
the only reason buick stayed onboard was because of how freakin well they sell over seas, theyre cheap luxury cars over yonder. so instead of keeping the GM fans happy with performance cars in the US market, GM wants to make their money from overseas becauce thats a much bigger market.
still pontiac might comeback, the G8 chassis is returning just as a chevy
Not as a Pontiac. It's not like they had much when they died, just the G8
bring pontiac back as a niche sporty add on, so G8 with the new v6, V8.
Trans am off the camaro, and re badged cruze and call it the tempest.
Thanks for the 38th thread like this since the beginning of last year.
your welcome
Will these threads ever stop ?
They didn't get rid of GMC cause that's their truck brand. Ever seen a GMC 6500 pulling a tractor trailer? There's probably as many of them sold as there were Pontiac's sold in Pontiac's last few years.
I would love to see the return of the DeLorean. I bet you could alot with that Lotus-like platform.
But thats not gonna happen. Not even John DeLorean himself, who by the way was the architect of the old-school GTO, Firebird, and Grand Prix, could bring back his own brand before he died 6 years ago.
I like Pontiac but theres plenty of other "fish in the sea" as far as platforms/brands.
Maybe in 30 years we will see a limited edition pontiac like they brought back the regal in 4 cyl yuck
At least the new regal is up to 255 HP. Probably can't get the more powerful Opel or Holden engines here because of emissions. I was at a Buick dealer almost a year ago looking at the 2011 Buick Regal. I asked what engine was in it. The salesman said a 182 HP 4cyl. I laughed and said you got to be kidding. My 98 Regal has a 240 HP supercharged V6. The salesman looked like a ghost and then said they're going for fuel economy. The sad thing is, my old Regal probably gets better realistic fuel mileage than the new 4cyl Regal. I know my 2010 Malibu gets worse fuel mileage and throttle response is terrible. I curse at it everyday, but I don't have to work on it so I deal for now.
heres a thought, bring them them all back, and let them share frames, but keep the body and engine designers/builders seperate from eachother like the old old days, then the damn cars wouldn't look so much a like and the motors would be different and one would be better than the other, not just cheaper
gm can barely afford the few differant motors they already have lol
just import anything the aussies make, then everyones happy
