    Matt-

As I said, I'm trying not to break the bank, but I'm willing to buy something expensive, as it would be worth it in the long end.

I'm still not quite sure what I all want, but as I keep reading everyone's posts, I have realized that a $300 dollar budget isn't going to cut it for a "decent" setup.

I really liked the kicker's that I found yesterday, but I'm not sure if that price I found it for was really a "good" deal? Also, I've read reviews on different kicker products and a lot of people have said that they don't last as long as they should. Is this true?

It seems that my budget for buying everything gets higher and higher everyday...

Your product is only as good as the idiot using it. Honest truth is that anything will basically work for you if you don't have any standards. I'm not saying your cheap or stupid or anything else. If you aren't attempting to achieve a good balanced system then the chances are you've never heard one.

In that case, you're walking through this blind. However, I bet I could take some crap from radio shack and do a blind test with you vs. "high dollar brand" or something else and I have a feeling you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. My point is don't sweat the small stuff...buy something that makes you feel comfortable and then come back to us with install questions If you know a thing or two about proper install then you can work with almost anything and make it sound good. Why do you think Matt likes to push raw drivers so much?

If we were talking about mids and tweets that'd be a different story tho! At that point your speakers can easily turn into Baskin Robins 31 flavors.

Well I hate to tell you...

...but your bass rolls off as high as 8khz at times. The other speakers matter if you want the "bass" to give you that impact in the chest people are always talking about. Go google fundamentals and transients in relationship to sound reproduction.

So please don't try to educate me on sound preference or vernacular. I'm just giving people the truth about preference vs. install and choice of hardware. I could care less if anybody is happy/unhappy with the end product.

"SQ" doesn't cost much anyways. $25 on mids is WAY more than the .50 cents GM spent. Anyways, you want to talk about "loud" vs "sq"; one of the most storied competition QUALITY cars is louder(A weighted) than most sub systems people run today. Sorry but quality and loud go together. i don't know why people want to think they're separate entities. Ask anybody to define "system" in relationship to a vehicle and they'll mostly describe it as nauseating, obnoxious, and "where's the music?". When I use the word "system" people are outright shocked when they hear it, presuming I'll give them shaken baby syndrome before the stereo ever turns on. Sorry if I'm turning into an ass. Just tired of the same discussions over and over. Kind of mad that car audio is a synonym for "trash" now too.

1800 sorry if I seemed a little bit of a know it all on that last reply, by no means do I know more than you or even think I do. The point of my earlier statement was some people just like to feel it in their chest. Quite a few of my friends couldn't care less how crisp the highs are and how deep the lows. They just want to shake the windows of the cars next to them and smile as they do it.

And I agree, when people hear system these days they think a pair of cheap twelves and an amp... Or worse a set of subs and amp that are worth more than the 80's Cadillac there sitting in. The worst stereotype someone has mentioned to me, a Rusty brown olds with no paint and 3,000$ rims and a 2,000$ "system".
