i want to start looking into guns, but they are so expensive and i know nothing about them at all besides how to shoot them.
but whatever i buy will be my only gun for quite some time, so i want something that i can add **** too (for some reason i think a tactical DE would be super badass). suggestions on thing to look for and into?
the M-14 hasn't been a regular issue weapon in years the M16 is a regular issue. as well as the M4.
Ill be purchasing an M4 soon.
i already got a M-14 2 years ago.
I just got a Desert Eagle .357. IMO you're paying for the name...and movies are the only reasons people want these guns. My DE, in it's cheapest form, is still a $1,500 gun new. The gas chamber design can get dirty depending on what rounds you use, and any rounds for and DE, (.357, .44, .50), are expensive as hell. They look cool...they're hefty...and that's about it.
I'd look into any 1911 variation. Springfield offers some very nice .45 caliber 1911's. Beyond that, there are good polymers like the XD or Glock, or if you go with revolvers, Smith & Wesson make quality guns when compared to Taurus.
Looking back, I would have gotten into a 9mm, .40, or a .45 just for the cheaper rounds. For the ultimate cheap, accurate, semi-auto fun gun, go with a Ruger Mark .22.
id rather a hand gun. i have thought heavily about a revolver just because they are awesome and probably way more reliable then a semi-auto one.
this would be something id keep around my house for 'just in case' situations as well as taking it to the range every so often.
cant go wrong with a 357 for home defense... excellent stopping power and and it will also safely fire 38 ammo which are dirt cheap for going to range with, this is with the revolver and of course reliability. they also make a 357 auto which bullets are pretty expensive for....
1911.... its teh ****
I want one so badly but to get a restricted gun license up here is kinda difficult.
Perhaps I'll start with my first level and go from there.
Hell, i think handguns are prohibited, not restricted. Can't remember ATM.
Gun registry is bull**** as well, all of the guns that are related to crimes aren't registered...
I have a Remington 870 Express Super Mag 12 gauge, great gun. I also have a Ruger 10/22 .22 lr. The 10/22 is cheap, reliable and accurate. There are also tons of aftermarket items for it. I just bought a Savage 93r17 BSEV .17 HMR. My deer/antelope rifle is a custom made 7mm Mauser.
My dad has a Howa 1500 .223, Remington 870 Express Wingmaster SM, Mossberg .270, custom made 30-06, and a remington .22 of some sort. My grandpa has about a dozen guns that he never shoots. He just sees a gun he likes and buys it.
Been considering trying to pick up one of these two. I'm happy enough taking a shotgun out for board shoots, and I'm a decent shot with a rifle, but seriously, it'd probably be more practical to be better with a pistol and with my 5% accuracy with the pistols I've tried in the past (don't yet own one), I can tell it's going to take a loooot of ammo for me to get any good - may as well go cheap and accurate before I go expensive and inaccurate, I figure.
all VERY good choices... thats the same mossberg pistol grip i posted about.. thing is absolutely nasty... i went out one day and bucked off a few boxes of bird shot and prob 10 rounds of 3 in magnum buckshot... i couldnt move my right hand the next day it was so bruised and swollen in the webbing of thumb and and index finger. definitely want ear plugs with that one too. hold it at the hip, point and shoot and u will hit what ur shootin at... they make alotta accesories for it too.
