I put in new factory replacement headlights and they still aren't bright enough (deer season). I went to the parts store to get some silverstar lamps. They didn't have the regular silverstars in stock but they had the silverstar ultras but they were $42. Are the ultras worth the extra cash or should I take them back and order the regular silverstars? I've never used any silverstars, so input would be appreciated. Thanks!

stop being cheap and get projectors.

Then if thats still not enough light, get HID's.

The ultras are supposed to be alittle better than the regular sivlerstars. They are also not supposed to burn out as quick as the regulars. If you want to sae some cash look into a set of GE nighthawks. They are a better bulb since they do not have any blue tint on the glass bulb.

x2 on avoiding blue bulbs. Blue bulbs are going to reduce your output.
ORIGINAL = Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

In fact, you get less usable light from such a bulb than from a regular clear bulb, and here's why: A blue filter removes nonblue components of the light passing through it. Halogen bulbs produce very little light in the blue frequency range. When you put a blue filter on the bulb or lamp, you are reducing the amount of usable light that gets from the glowing filament to the reflector, to the lens and from there to the road. If a bulb's sales material focuses on the color of the light rather than the amount of light, you should ask critical questions about the amount of light the bulb produces before choosing to use it.
Probably the best 9007 bulb you're going to find is the Philips X-treme Power +80. It puts out slightly more light than a regular bulb, and uses a smaller filament (closer to a point source) and more precise arrangement to improve the beam pattern and direct the light down the road.

If you're really looking for better visibility, though, I'd recommend getting projectors. Even with high efficacy bulbs, you'll still be limited by the 9007 housing. The two filaments in the bulb interfere with the beam pattern, scattering the light and reducing the usable output. Even with halogen bulbs, the projectors direct a lot more usable light down the road than the 9007 housing is capable of.

silverstars are crap. in the time it takes you to buy HIDs then replace them you would have replaced the silverstars prolly 3 or 4 times over. so either way its gonna cost you the same. the life of silverstars dont last any longer than regular lights which is why they are much cheaper. i could be wrong though...

    Actually less.

If they burn brighter, they can't last as long.

I just installed the ultras. They are pretty bright. Not as good as HIDs though. To those of you about me getting the HIDs, I just installed the new factory replacements thinking that was the problem with lack of vision. Here goes, don't flame me...... I don't like the way the HIDs look on a GP. Just a personal preference. lol

I just got some ultras. I asked about the nighthawks and the ones I would consider getting are a fair bit more than what I paid for the ultras.
