Higher Octane Gas = more $ per gallon.

Higher Octane Gas + a car designed for it = better running car.

Better running car = Better gas mileage

Better gas mileage = Less Gas used, offsetting the initial higher gas cost.

17 mpg on cheap gas@ 2.49 gallon, 10 gallons = 6.8 cents/mile running bad
19.1 mpg on BP 92 @ 2.69 gallon, 10 gallons = 7.1 cents/mile running well.

The 4% fuel cost savings isn't worth it. Run the Gas the Car was designed for.
